Ok, recently i acquired a Alpine 3-disc in-dasn changer (7982) from a friend for installing his new stereo. It is still in pretty good shape, but needs a few minor touches to spruce it up. I need new buttons all around, a mounting sleeve, and instruction booklet. I have called and wrote Alpine for these and they directed me to www.pacparts.com. I think that $5 bucks for a instruction manual, $7 for a mounting sleeve, and up to $40 for the buttons id outrageous. Does anyone know where i could acquire these items other than pacparts? If you know of any place or have them, please email me and i may be able to make negotiations. Also, that model has a security code on it, but my friend says he never put one in. Is there any way besides sending it to the factory that this can be fixed. Thanks for any help!!!!

I think that pricing is okay. Want to go get ripped off? I tried to get a replacement factory steering wheel for my Z28: $425! Same price pretty much for a stock mag. The factory fog lights came in at a steal: $320

Moral: Part's is expensive....

Pac Parts price on an Alpine 8040 radar sensor? 43.28 Remote for same? 40.00. Siren?? 38.27!!!! Now, we all know these parts dont cost more than a fistfull of dollars to make, however, they too have a high replacement cost, because SUPPLY is down, and YOU ARE DEMANDING them! It's called free enterprise.... sorry buddy...
Oh yeah, I bought all those parts (with the exception of the siren...)

I know what you mean.. I got an alpine 3da-7987 from a friend (non working) to replace the cd mechanism.. $260 (same mechanism for all 3 disc changers.. that's half the retail for some of the lower models) anyways.. what I did instead is bought an alpine 3de-7985 off ebay that didn't have the face or magazine for 21 bucks. so I have most of the parts the 7987 uses for soooooooo much cheaper.

Damn, that was smart! Great idea.

I love Alpine. Their LED's COST me $9, but they are the brightest out there...
