I'm thinking about getting a panasonic mxe dfx 240u cd head unit, but i need some opinions here before i buy it... 4v preouts, flip face, non fading sub outs, d-bass, etc...
thinking about a pioneer and clarion, but i really like the panasonic... anything seriously bad about the mxe line that i should be aware of?? thanx
p.s. my hu price range is 200-300, so no exhorbitantly fancy models (nak, mcintosh, etc...)

Seriously look into the pioneer DEHP6000 model.... with its built in xovers for subs and mids and highs, i cant think of a better deck on the market for the average comsumer, or someone like myself, that wants the best sound they can get, with the least amount of headache (meaning passive xovers, EQTs, and that kinda stuff).

The Clarion Pro Audio DRX6675z is a piece I would look into if I was you. Although, I have seen good things with panasonic also. I think you would be happy with either. My suggestion is find a place where you can see & play with them. That's the best idea!

not sure if I'd go the panasonic.. a friend of mine had a panasonic flip 4v outs etc... (also has an alpine 7949) he swapped in the panasonic for some "pretty lights" and was very disappointed in the sq of the deck.. I listened to it the day he swapped back from the panasonic to the alpine, never new a cd player could made that much off a diff.. Sure the alpine 7949 is probably one of the best out there, but we measured the rca signal of each.. almost 3V from the panasonic but clipped long before full volume. 4+V from the alpine and no clipping at full volume.. But personally I'd have to say go for the pioneer, I have a premier p600 and I love it, clean and full of features.. the built in x-overs are kinda handy (especially if you run rears or even all speakers off the head unit you can cross them over) hope some of that rambling helps

well one of the reasons i want the panasonic is because no one else in my area is running it... LOTS of pioneer and alpine here, a few clarion, and a few jvc... for 15" 7000 subwoofers would the preout problem be that bad?? my amp is an mtx, handles 8v preamps, dual gain, crossover, bass boost, etc... thanks
