Topic: Alpine CDA-7893 No worky.....Please help...
I'm the second owner of this CD Reciever. It worked when it was removed, doesn't smell burnt, and powers up like it should. Problem seems to be the amplifier but I need a second opinion and some advice on where to go from here.... Should I check the price to repair? Thanks in advance -Sean

What's it not doing? Is it taking the CD? No RCA output? No amp output? What kind of car is it in? More info.... -------------------- Sick Bastard Audiowww.bordermotorsports.com

It was in a Jeep Cherokee, now in a Ford Excursion. No sound output whatsoever. No static, nothing to the speaker wires. I have it on a bench now, with 12v power and probing the wires shows NOTHING coming out of the speaker leads. I haven't checked the rca's yet, but I don't really want to go to two amps... Any thoughts?

press & Hold the "F" (Function button untill the function menu appears, scrol through until you see "PWR-IC", This turns the internal amp on & off. make sure it is ON (PWR-IC ON) and NOT off (PWR-IC OFF). From what I have seen in mine this setting will stay even when the power is disconected. If the former owner was not useing the built in amp it may still be off. good lukx, Tom -------------------- My car 1990 300ZX-TT Alpine AudioControl Focal PPI Kicker Fi Q-Series 18's (under construction)

You guys rock... PWC-IC was off and that fixed it, but there was also a MUTE feature that is ON...should that be turned off? I'm new to the world of alpine-thanks again for all your help. Also, the MX feature...sounds like a loud button for the highs....any thoughts?

Mute means no sound. If it's on, your music should be playing 20dB lower than the actualy volume. So turn it off and let the good time a roll! -------------------- -

Actually, the MX brings out quality of a CD. No matter how good your computer is it can't burn a CD to perfect quality. MX cleans it up and makes the music have a nice crisp sound. -------------------- -

The mute function in the function menu is for when you have a in car mobile phone. when you use the phone or you get a call the CD player will mute automatic. I don't usualy use the Meida eXpander I think it makes the highs sound to harsh. I do use it when I'm listening to the radio at a low level. MX level 1 adds more bass than treble, MX level 2 adds more treble than bass and MX level 3 boosts them both. BTW Hold the MX buttot to select the MX level (1/2/3/defeat) [ 01-07-2003, 07:37 PM: Message edited by: 1FASTKINGCAB ] -------------------- My car 1990 300ZX-TT Alpine AudioControl Focal PPI Kicker Fi Q-Series 18's (under construction)

if your buttons are able to change color(green-amber) press and hold "f" until something pops up. Continuosly press f until you get something that says "amber" then press the "band" button. They should change into a pink/red color. -------------------- -

while music is playing locate the "disp." button. (display) every time you press it, it'll make a different display on the left. I like the the little check bump with music. It's nothing near as fancy as other companies, but its a little trick. -------------------- -

I guess your not useing any external amps, but if you ever do. Press & hold the "T-CORR" button untill HPF appears, press it once more you will see LPF, they are the High & Low pass filters for the RCA outs. the >> & << buttons change the setings Also while on the Sub level adjustment press either the track >> or the track << button to change the sub woofer Phase. Press & hold the "Title" button to enter Disc names & station names. the rotarty knob changes the digit and pushing it advances to the next space.
