I am quite confused about Clarion head units in general. The other day I was on ebay and saw them going for like 120 bucks, so i just wrote them off as garbage and moved along. After more searching, I saw the 9375r i believe. It had a retail value of $750. How can there be so much disparity between brands. Also, the 9375 didn't look so special, it just looked rather mediocre.. What makes this, and other clarion HUs, that look so average cost so much. Please, help me out here!!!

The clarion 9375 that you speak about is about 5 or 6 years old! Back in the day it did retail at around $750.
If you did read about this player on Ebay then you know why it was so expensive. It was top of the line next to the 9255.
The head unit you choose is mostly on personal preference. I like Clarion CD players because they provide the features that I'm interested in. I use a Clarion DRX9575z, which was released in 1998, it took over the 9375.
I bought it in 2000 and it even survived a super-typhoon that wrecked my windshield and flooded my truck!
The fetures that I like about the 9575 are: optical output and its compatability with the clarion sound processors.
Clarion makes low end players that just play CDs to hi end players that play DVDs, MP3s and come with fully motorized monitors.
Hope this helps

It's time to move on from the 9375.....yes I know you will miss it......the superb sound quality(24-bit DAC), the ability to listen to your CD's without skipping, that bad ass KNOB, the ability to add on that nifty little DSP. Yeah that P.O.S. may it R.I.P.
Now the DRX-925, that's a deck!!!!!!!!
go check it out baby......www.clarion.com

You mean the dzx925? It has lots of stuff on it, but I have messed around with the deck at the shop. I am not impressed. The 2nd moving face doesn't move smoothly at all. I have heard the deck can sound great if the time is taken to get everything set just right, but I hate the setup of the deck. All the moving parts(and some that don't move that well) make me even more concerned living in a colder climate(Maine). Clarion does make nice stuff though.

You know what, I always do that drx instead of dzx. But anyways it is true about the face. You also have to worry about the din you put it into it folds down strangely. But the features or excellent, especially with the add on dsp and 5.1. Also yes it is time consuming to get it all set up, but it's worth it. I still want to get the dvd to add on though. I also thought about the Joyride, but for some reason I don't really like it. Plus you have time alignment, built in HP/LP cross over, and dual 24 bit DAC's all on the DZX. I think if the joyride had those features I'd be down!
Oh yeah Eclipse also has that new DSP/EQ add-on, has anybody tried that yet? What about the Pioneer Premeir(?) with it's add-on EQ?
I know I jumped around alot, but those extra features are like a woman with interchangable breast!!
