If you like the deck, that is all that matters. Don't let the comments of others determine whether you get rid of your deck or not. If you check out a different deck that you like better, THEN change.

i used to have the sony cdx-m750 and feature wise its a great HU but...at high volumes the damn thing started to skip like crazy. they are notorious for skipping. right at about 144dbs or so. my friend has a cdx-mp70 and i thought it would not skip cause of the way the CD loads (just like a computer), he was showing me his new subs and the damn thing started skipping. he got pissed. thats why people hate sony

I had a bad ass mid line sony about a year ago. It looked really cool but it didn't stack up against others that I have owned.
I will never buy anything sony for my car again. Sony makes great home stuff but their car audio is lacking IMO.
I have had problems with clarions too, but alot of people that have em don't.
I think the best HU out are made by pioneer, alpine, and eclipse.... kinda funny though. I am really big into the car audio scene yet all I have left in my car is a bottome of the line $120 crappy kenwood cd player... Now that thing is a piece compared to the other stuff I have had.
If I ever go back and do it over again I am going alpine or pioneer, unless I run into some $$ then I'll go eclipse.

I had a Sony until about 2 weeks ago when it was stolen. I told everyone how good my Xplod was b/c I didnt know any better. It was a good HU that distorted at high volumes and had a mediocre reception. My car was jacked and the HU was stolen, which meant I had to get a new one. I bought an Alpine 7893 and all I can say is wow. Besides all the features(motorized faceplate, time correction)the sq is far far far superior. The stock speakers I have play so much cleaner now and the bass is so much better. With the Xplod I had no bass output at regular levels and heavy and usually distorted bass with the loud feature. The bass hits much cleaner and on a much broader spectrum.
I had the HU for only two days and I love it. Once you buy something knew you will understand. I wish my Alpine talked to me and had a color organuice display.....

We sell Sony, Pioneer and Kenwood. Ive had about 5 different Pioneers myself, with out problems..Have had and loved the 2 Alpines Ive had. Owned 1 Woody as well. Im an audio whore, what can I say?
I would never own a Sony, like all above said, they skip, they arent on par with the options/features, and havent really made anything solid since the Xplod line took over.
Havent really had much experiance with anything else. Of all I listed Alpine for me, with Pioneer comming in a close second. Id take stock over a Sony unit. Posts: 518 | From: SW Chicago, IL | Registered: Oct 2000

I don't think you will be disappointed with an eclipse
I've never heard of any dissapointed Eclipse HU owners
I didn't like mine that I had back in 99, it had problems

this might be off topic a little, but i went from a jensen mp3510 to an alpine CDA-7894 cd/mp3 player and it was like night n day. alpine was so much clearer n cleaner. SQ was 150% better. my buddy who was a sony xplod fan was in awwee (sp) over how clean n clear my new alpine was. bottom line sonys are for beginers. go with the top 3 alpine, eclipse or clarion...(not in any specific order)

Let me guess...weird skipping issue??? Eclipse DID have some software issues a few years ago. They have long since been fixed though. Next time you are looking for a deck, I think you should atleast check out an eclipse.

my pre Xplod deck is the best deck i ever owned and doesnt even skip with a CD that rode on my dashboard for 10 years (i dont recommend this). It is a sony ES with ESP and i have NEVER had a problem with it.
i agree Xplod sux and id never buy one.
