mod and extream cars should have the right to cover at will. try to get into a race car pit and see what happens.

this isnt nascar.

the point to sponsoring someone is to show spectators how good you can be, "if you buy our products"

when i see a covered car, how do i know he's even running his sponsors stuff?

if i keep my trunk closed, how do you know what i have.

i can buy all the stickers in the world and slap them on my car, and say i'm sponsored, that doesnt mean i actually have that equipment in my car.

and, for the record, nascar, indy, and other rae orginazations regularly offer pit passes, and people ARE allowed to look around.

sure, they arent letting you break out a laptop and a tape measure and start recording every detail.

and i wouldn't expect db racers to either.

but for me to LOOK at someones install, i'm not going to be able to reproduce what they have done, simply be LOOKING at it.

looking doesnt tell me every single measurment, or whats going on inside the box, or under panels, etc...

i can look at someones car, that has 10 million miles of wire, doesnt mean i can reproduce it myself.

comparing car stereos to race cars is WAY off.

if someone wants to hide everything, then perhaps they shouldnt be sponsored.

and if nothing else, THEY SHOULD NOT BE RUDE about it.

rude and bad attitudes are what drive people away from this hobby just as it does in many others.

I dont agree with the post that sayes that you can got into the pits and see what is going on. Have you been to a nascar race, NHRA Drag race? I have beem to both and let me tell you the NHRA has parts on the car that cost more that we have in our whole car. Anyone can buy them and build a car just like them. But you can stand 5 feet away from the car and watch them rebuild the car. I promise you one thing if John Force covered his car Castrol wouldnt sponcer him. I have an extreme car and a team mate that has an extreme van. We dont cover ours at any event. Im one of the names that were predicted to win world finals and may do it but it will be open the whole show to anyone that wants to look.

Open the door and make the spectators happy. I even turn mine up for them a couple of times and get them interested in whats going on. I had an Idea for the next show i attend of placing a sign that stays I will turn it on every half hour for anybody who wants to hear it. I might get flamed for this procedure but at least it gets the locals to ask questions and possibly participate in the next event with a little more knowledge than they had before. There is no real secrets here all the info Ive obtained can be found on this forum if you search enuff.

thank you.. someone who understands [Smile]

its not like you need to let people take pictures or film your stuff. or measure every little detail.

a little peak ... thats why spectators come to events.. to spectate.

we don't have this issue in the United States.

I did more shows than anyone this year and I have never seen anyone cover up their vehicle.

This was 1 car last year. I have not heard of anything this year. We shouldn't go around changing rules because of 1 vehicle.

Well this will be a rule that are easy to put in the rule book, no one will be forced to change anything, the only difference is that the have to leave the blackets at home..

So I donīt see why it would be a problem to add this rule.

because there are 100+ ways to get around this rule.

you can't enforce this rule.

I would rather spend my time running a show than worry about someone in the corner of the parking lot playing games.

Well if someone covers the cabin/construction just DQ them immediately, I bet that people maxximum tries to cover their vehicle one time....

i say them open. it makes for a better show when people can go around and see the many different installs. it also can draw in future competitors to the sport. would you go to a car show if all of the cars are covered up with tarps. db drag needs to make the sport more fun to go to for the spectators. but i also knows its also up to the promoter at the show that can make a show good or bad.

You can't enforce this rule w/o letting some people get away with it while other people dont.

Using the idea, if vehicles are not open, DQ them. I could DQ almost every vehicle at every show I judge.

This means every trunk car must have its trunk open. This means that no one can leave their vehicle for any reason. If a vehicle is left unattended, I can't look into it, therefor illegal.

I know these are extreme circumstances, but whats the difference?

unfortuante.. but i see your point.

as a newbie, i find it annoying when people cover thier cars. i can understand it... but when i see specatators, who cant spectate... well....

i on the other hand, love to show off my work, because i like to hear things that poeple have to say about it... but i can udnerstand why some would want thier car covered... yet at the same time... its only mdf and speakers [Smile]

I've only seen 1 competitor cover up their dash, but would show it to anyone w/o a camera.

I know have this problem and its difficult for me to understand that it is a problem so bad that we need a rule for it.

i dont really think there needs to be a rule for it.

i mean it would be a nice gesture, for poeple to allow people to look at thier installs. even if its without a camera.

but.. maybe thats because i'm stil lnew, and not "extreme" yet.. so i dont care who looks at my stuff. no big secrets in there.
