I know that there are a few different threads going right now about the best way to tie memberships to people and/or cars. I was thinking of a situation that under the current rules structure can happen. I think that this is unlikely to happen but it can.
1. There are currently no rules that clearly define what class a car must compete in. It has been shown multiple times that the people competing are allowed to run in a class which they are not entirely qualified to run in. This includes people allowing their car to run rather then being off to change classes.
2. There are no rules regarding who actually must run a car to get the points for a givin membership.
3. There are no rules which forbids a car from competing in multiple classes at a single show under different memberships.
These three points in the rulebook would actually allow one car to compete in up to 7 seperate classes at a single show. I understand that this is unlikely but there have been people under the impression that if someone is an extreme competitor then all the points they receive should be in extreme regardless of the class that they are in. There are people who believe that they should be allowed to decide which class they feel most qualified.
Example: A car normally competes in street a with a single 8 inch woofer. The car has a single amplifier with 2 conductors connecting it to the woofer. There is a single battery under the hood.
This car can compete in any of the street classes due to the wording in the woofer/amplifier requirements and the real world application. I understand that the speaker/amplifier table are used only as a guideline because I have seen cars with 4 amplifiers and 2 12 inch speakers compete in street c under the reasoning of you are not required to have 4 12s to compete in that class anymore then you need 4 amplifiers. Most judges will allow this due to the handicapping that having less equiptment in a higher class.
This car can compete in Street Max 1-2,Super Street 1-2 NW,Super Street 1-2, and Extreme 1. This is another thing that I have seen in practice because there are no real defining modifications which you need to have in order to compete any of these catagories. I have seen cars get moved into a class that REQUIRES A WALL (Extreme) that did not have this one modification that is required under the Class Matrix.
I have looked at the rulebook in its entirety and have only found rules on sending a fleet of cars to a show and a Q&A on sharing of equiptment. Using these things as a guideline you can have the car in the example compete in 3 street classes,1 street max class,2 superstreet class and 1 extreme class provided you had 7 unique memberships. I see no rules saying who is allowed to run a car under a membership. This can allow 7 people to compete 7 seperate cars on the same day at 7 different shows and be totally legal.
I would like someone to look at all of the rules and find somewhere that this is not allowed. I only see a quideline regarding sharing: Question – Can any portion of the auto sound system be removed and placed in another competitors vehicle? Example, sharing amps, woofers, box, caps, CD player.
Answer – A competitor may borrow equipment IF AND ONLY IF his equipment breaks during the competition. For example, if a competitor blows a woofer during qualifying, he may borrow a woofer from someone else in order to continue competing.
Competitors may NOT share common components as a part of normal competition. For example, a car club could NOT build a single amp rack and then use it with each of their vehicles. Each vehicle MUST have its own equipment. This includes all system components... Amps, Alternators, Batteries, Woofers, Source Units, Signal Processors, Podiums, etc.
This says that each vehicle has to have its own equiptment there is no where that says that each competitor must have their own vehicle.

rule 2-4 says you cannot enter the same vehicle in more than 1 class at the same show

2-4 Each competitor may compete in one, and only one class at each dB Drag Racing event.
Additional Guidelines:
· Competitors may not enter the same vehicle in more than one class at a dB Drag Racing event, nor may a competitor enter more than one vehicle at the same show.
· Competitors may not send out a “fleet” (2 or more) of vehicles to compete in an attempt to circumvent the point’s accrual requirements for the World Finals.
· Competitors must accompany their vehicle at each event. In other words, a competitor may not send his vehicle to an event with a friend in order to compete while he stays at home.
It says a competitor cannot enter multiple classes or a car in multiple classes. You are using the spirit of the rule not the letter of the rule. This rule would also prevent a team member from competing a vehicle which they do not own, which is also a spirit of the rule vs the letter of the rule.
