I figured I would chime in here. I plan on competing this year with a trunk car. As it is now I might be able to do ok in Street B with my sub firing rear and ported through the rear deck.

But I want to be louder so I want to fire the foward and seal off my trunk. BUT I dont have seats that will fold down. So that means I will have to remove it to be loud which will throw me into Street Max 1-2. Even if I get another amp, a few thousand watts and 2 12's in a trunk are going to be hard pressed to beat a guy with 2 18's and 5000+ watts(or what ever, you get my point). And hey, thats not his fault that I have to use the car and equipment I have, but why should I be pentalized for it?

People like me with trunk cars that dont have rear folding seat have a need for a class like this so that we can be competitive as well. And thers probably alot of peeps like me out there that dont compete just because of the overwhelming competition they will face.

And Im not so naive to think I could win a Street Max A class with the equipment I have , even if I did add another amp. But atleast I would feel like I had a chance at winning sometimes and not be made to look like a a$$.

I have looked at the Street Max 1-2 numbers, and for the most part the top 20 or so are 5 or so db's higher than the top 5 Street B. Changing the Max classes as purposed would help to even thing out somewhat IMO and make some of the people that are currently in Max 1-2 have to work harded to earn there points instead of getting them by whipping peeps at comps like me that dont really have a chance in hell with the way things stand right now.( And Im not saying that everyone is currently doing this. I know you guys work your butts off to get loud. [Wink] )

Any how thats my $.02 on the matter. After 28 hours without sleep Im suprised i could even write all this. [Razz]

using your logic, we should make a class for everyone. Why penalize someone that has 4 18's but can't afford amps for superstreet?

and that's what i was trying to get at earlier.

no matter how many classes there are.. EVERYONE will never be completely happy with them.

there will always be someone who doesnt fit.

because i have extra batteries in my car, i'm too high for street b.

but i wont be competetive enough in NW.

but, i poured over the rules, and brackets, and decided to just have fun and try NW.

i might lose every event. but i'm gonna have fun doing it.

i think its just a fact that if people are gonna compete, they need to review what can and cant be done, and decide on a class.

but for the local guys, who might only compete at local events...

well. i guess that brings us back to mini street again [Smile]

Well first off, I dont think there should be a class for everyone. pornstar is right, you cant make everyone happy here.

Also your right as well. No I dont think the person with 4 18's and cant afford the amps for SS should be pentalizes either. But that still doenst mean me and others like me should be, does it?

I honestly dont know what would be best. I think there are alot of people out there that are being put into a class that they cant be competitive though,(not just the one in question). This sport, or better yet this organization need to continue to grow however, and instead you see people turning away from it. Something needs to be done if DB Drag is to continue to grow and prosper.

And BTW, reguardless of what may happen, I still will compete, even if that means I will have to be in Street Max 1-2. [Cool] Im in it for the competition. I want to win. But if due to the rules I wont be nothing more than a name on the roster, some one for the people with better equipment to beat, I guess I will have to deal with that. Until I can afford better/more equipment or until theres a rule change.

I'm one of the people who was originally pushing for this class when it was formed. (and the a$$hole who bitched and didn't believe that cargo vans should be allowed in this class) I still think that the class should be left alone. Right now it works in a variety of ways. The lack of cone area classifications is what makes it the perfect catch all.

i dont see any major issues that need to be changed in street max. no one said you had to use 18's to do well. i only use 15's and did pretty well. and for part of the year, i only used amps that were roughly only 1kw. for a good part of the season my high certified was on 15" RFL's and 1kw fusion amps! it was my understanding from the start that this was a transitional class from street to super street. if you dont think a wall is right, run street class. if you dont like to equipment restrictions, no one is saying you have to use a 18" sub. if you want to use more batteries, head to SS. i think this organization has a nearly perfect mix of classes. quit changing things all the time. try running the same rules for more than one year. just define a few things, such as the amp rules for Street and SM.

i thought sm was designed for the street veterans to move up,but that aint gonna happen.why is everyone worried about 18s?the to 3 in sm 3-4 ran 15s,so whats the problem.the foreign guys want surface are because the cant fit more than 2-15s in a panda, but with the scores the do they dont need to.this should be more about getting the guys that have been in street for 3 or 4 years to step up.it takes the same equipment to run sm and street, except for subs are diffferent.nobody said you cant wall a crx, just seems like everyone is scared to.i say leave sm alone and the rest of the classes also, just make the finals qualifications different.

why does everyone say SM was designed for people with street boxes that happen to be a lil to tall? and that, that shouldnt make them have to run against a walled car with 18s...ummmm how bout he builds his box to the rite hieght?? are you people honestly wanting this class for people who cant measure ther car?? the way i saw SM classes was for a person who whats a SS type set up..but limiting power nad vehicle mods to keep it cheap?its like a baby super street to me, maybe not...but thats how i saw it ..and why i chose to compete in it ...the class is kool..and leave it alone...

I am ranked #5 2004 world finalist in streetmax 1-2...I hope I can post here. [Razz]

I feel that the rules for streetmax 1-2 and streetmax 3-4 are great, they are working well and bringing in new competitors the way they are.

In my opinion the main difference between street classes and streetmax classes are the wall. The main difference between superstreet and streetmax is the power.
I feel it is a great in between class. People will always complain about things not being fair to local kids at shows. Well I basicly represent the local kid at the show, I have no problems with the rules.
Bottom line in my opinion is that no matter how classes are setup a person with a daily driver setup is not going to stand a chance competing against similar equipment in a vehicle that was built for SPL. We all follow the same rules thereore it is fair. Someone will always have to loose, sorry that is just the way it is/ that is what happens in competion.

Last comment....(about the person talking about 2 12"s in a wall).
Who the hell has 2 12"s in a wall??? the last wall install with 12"s I had contained 8 of them???

IDBL and SLAP have different rules about enclosure height then DB Drag. I'm sure that some of the other organizations out there do to. It's highly likely that some competitors may have enclosures built for other organizations which are fully compliant and want to compete in DB Drag, that do not wish to build a new enclosure just so they can compete. Hence the reason this class makes sense for enclosure height.

IMO these ideas are whats wrong with the sport as it stands. I know this post itself isnt going to mean much either but here goes:
Dont bring a batting helmet to use in a football game. If you have a trunk car but dont want to put the effort into it to make it comply with the rules & get loud, then go buy a $500 beater that would be easier on you.

There is no reason to redefine classes.
Either the competitors comply with class rules, or dont compete. Do they change eligibilty requirements every year for any other "sport"?

In the post above there is mention of a trunk car that has seats that don't fold down. This is no reason to change the rules. A trunk car that cannot fold down the seats is going to have a disadvantage no matter what class he tries to compete in.
Also just because his seats don't fold down doesn't mean that the only class he can compete in is streetmax..... he can also choose superstreet or extreme [Razz]

What do you think of this idea?

Üüüühh!!!
Matze

Well in that Street Max C Class at least there is a large advantage with using the 12's. You have 140+ sq inch advantage over the 3 15's and even more of an advantage over the 2 18's.

Basically....you will never fix any rule that you think is broke. You may adjust it to make more people happy...or so you think...but then something changes and new people come in new ideas and rules change again. So unless there is a MAJOR flaw in a rule or a class then why change something that seems to work for more people then it does not work for.

P.S. I WILL be compeating in this class in the comming season.

I can tell you this is more common then then the 4 18s
Why not just go by number of amps in street and street max lets just say street 1 amp 2 amps and 4 amps
then street max 2 amps street max 4 amps.
I think this relates to more consumers then the way these classes are now
