Can we also have quads in this class?
Thats what I have always say if 1 speaker goes against a 2 speaker at least the 1 speaker should be aloud to a quad with double the power dont worry the 2 speaker system always win but atleast we get to play.

can Wayne add any input as to whether this is going to become a reality? It would be appreciated so those of us that would like to build for the 2005 season can get started.

my build is pretty much done except for a few minor tweaks, but if it stays ss1-2 slap will be my main focus, with db drag on the side, i'd like to do db drag full time i just dont feel i can be competitive enough in ss1-2. this is just my thoughts though.

I know how you feel, i've got this one woofer set up pretty loud....but no way I can compete with Danny Britain and his 164.0 in SS 1-2.....I'm not that good yet.

I know last year, Ivan, David and myself with many others were pulling for this class, I see even more interest this year, lets see what happens
also, what if there is more than 12 or 13 classes?? its more money in wayne's pocket at finals!!!
lets get this class going.

but I could be wrong,
I know you and I exchanged emails about this the other day....but I've been looking through the rules discussion archives and I've seen for the past 2 years that there has been at least 1 post, and as many as 3 in one year about bringing an SS-1 class. If there is that much interest....why shouldn't there be a discussion about it.

fine then why not local events keep the normal 1-2 class, but multipointers and finals have a ss1 class. Smaller shows (single pointers) you'll have the brackets filled and then in theory multipointers more people open up room for ss1 and still have full brackets

well guys, happened to talk to wayne on the phone today when i called the db drag office.....SS 1 is a NO for 2005. He said they will be adding some local classes, but on the national level....SS 1 is a big ol' NO!

Personally I think Waynes made the correct decision.
It would increase costs to promoters and dilute competition.
If people think they cant be competive with 1 less sub then fair enough but look at SS3-4. The WR is held by a car with 3 subs, not 4.

There was quite a bit of support on this topic, however it was mostly coming from 3 or 4 people, some of whom have competed at as little as one single event, others who it is questionable whether or not they would actually be making the class worthwhile.
A class like this is not needed, that is why there is SS1-2, it is not SS2, it is 1-2... if you choose to only run one sub, that is your perogitive. Making a SS1 class would only encourage more of the other SS competitors to drop down a class or two. Just take a look at Street Max and count the previous world champions/finalists. I think we should definately be focusing on less classes, like was said, it is diluting the competition. It is startign to get boring seeing zero head to head at local and even multi point events. I see more people step up, take a single run, take their trophy and leave now then I do actual head to head competition. Isn't that part of the dB Drag highlights?
Sorry for ranting... but maybe we should even look at combing a few of the other classes as well. Then bring back mini street! (I guess I summed up all my rules discussion in this post, sorry for any OT)

Good opinions. Yeah, I've only competed at one event as a member, but before I joined I competed at a few more. and this year is a full year for me, that's why I was pushing for the class.
But I definately don't see how you can combine any of the classes as they sit right now. Just doesn't look possible unless you combine Extreme. Super Street is too competitive as is Street.
