Some OEM cars with the battery in the back (like the ones I have) have the OEM POWER wire attaced to the underside of the car, running power from the boot mount OEM battery to the engine bay.

Saying its unsafe is a fairly weak argumant, when OEMs do it this way from the factory - NO FUSES!!!

I know that I personally would NEVER do that on any car I own or any car I am doing the installation on. The whole point is power wire is intended to be ran inside the car so lets keep things the way they are suppose to be or lets just let everything go and have a class thats called Street but looks like extreme!!!

Wasn't trying to attack you man, but I think you know as well as I do....that it's common practice and there is nothing unsafe about it if it's done the right way.

To those that think it is not safe. I compete in SQ competitions where install is judged. I ran my power wire under my truck and up through a factory grommet (that I upgraded) under the rear seats. I have never received less than a perfect score for wiring related to the power wire in that vehicle.

I have also used that same vehicle to go hunting in (read that to mean off-road, through mud, over rocks, etc.). It is still in the same place (it is a bit muddy) that it was the day I installed it.

Running power wires under the vehicle is perfectly safe as long as it is done properly.

^My comment was not directed at anyone, but just towards the general comments of it being unsafe to be under a vehicle.

For those wondering how to do it safeyly, here is what I did:

I used this:

 -

After running the wire through that and sealing each end with silicone, I ran that through some expandable sleeving:

 -

I then bought some brackets (and painted them black):

 -

 -

Then ran it under the vehicle:

 -

Through a grommet (this grommet has since been replaced with an aftermarket grommet):

 -

Works fine for me.

Andy

The way Andy did it according to the pictures is the best way to do this. Another way is to use high temperature hydralic hose to run the power wire through.
