after having spoken to a certified judge this is the question i have
· The sound system in the vehicle must be powered by the vehicle’s primary electrical system. This system, which is comprised of the alternator(s), battery (or batteries), and distribution system, must in turn be powered by the vehicle’s engine.
can the primary electrical system consist of 2 voltages?
scenario: vehicle has stock alternator, stock battery and stock wiring. the head units plays off this stock system. the car runs off this stock system. and there is music that is played thru the stock system. it is this 12v stock system that plays the headunit(all this is 12 v). the amplifiers have a dedicated alternator and dedicated battery bank(14v) that has a seperate voltage. this vehicle is superstreet. only the amps and nothing else are powered by 14 volt system . 2 seperate voltages.
by what i was told this is completely illegal as far as rules. no problem. i understood that. but i had heard some other versions to this answer from other judges that states that if the vehicle was to increase voltage thru this 14 volt bank, then it can have 2 voltages at the same time. seeing as how the stock alternator is part of the music playing the car(the signal is generated by the 12 volt system). not quite 12 not quite 14
if this is compeletely not allowed. so be it. but it is the conflicts that i would like to eliminate. there is nothing i would like more to do than compete. but not if i am doing it out of the boundries of the rules.
