As you know, we want to invite participants to the World Finals based on the Traditional Way (100 pts + top 15 Certified in Class). We also want to invite contestants based on their participation at events throughout the season.
Originally, I had suggested that we would invite everyone with 200 points or more. I received an email today suggesting that we should use participation in shows instead of points. For example... participate in 15 shows and you receive an invitation. I think this suggestion has great merit.
Please discuss.

Would the participant need to have ranked within the top 8, to be counted as an attendant? Or will tracking be performed on all participants, regardless of their final results?
Example: At an event, there are 10 competitors registered in the SuperStreet 1-2 NW class. Since 2 of the competitors will not make it to eliminations, do they (the 2 who did not qualify)still get accredited for their participation attempt?

Sounds like a good idea to me, but I think they should have to compete in a double or triple at least once during the season to establish a certified class.

participation in 15 shows is great, but what if you never make it to eliminations in those shows.
for sake of argument.
what if someone competed in 15 shows, but in each of those there were 10 people in thier class, and in each one, they came in 10th place. obviously this person wouldnt be someone that should be at world finals.. even if it were me
what about combining the ideas.. such as.. making top 8 at 15 shows, and, having a ceritifed score ie: at least one 2x or 3x event. rather than simply being at 15 shows.
but then again, what do i know, apparantly im just a punk kid because i dont have a stats link in my sig.

that's why i asked him to explain or expand why he said that
for people in ohio for example, sure we can make 15 shows without ever stopping for gas. but i know a lot of others are lucky to have even 1 show in thier state all season.

Well with the new Format of being able to hold you own show. I dont see were it would be hard to do 15 shows you have almost a year to get them.

it doesn't cost much to throw a show... 15x100=$1500 for all your points at your shop, or a shop close to you, some people spend that in gas alone...
it just sounds like you two want automatic invites, i say we take a vote... $10,000.00 each, automatic invites, money goes to world finals payout
if you can't do any of that, get your 100 points and get loud... wayne has been more than reasonable to change the rules and give every competitor a chance to participate in world finals.

Wayne how bout this why not make it like 25 shows. that would be the same thing as 8 first place entries at single point events and be equla to the 200 point deal you originally came up with.
After giving it some thought it is not hard to hit 15 events.

Wayne, i think whoever submitted this idea deserves a good handshake. And from what i read here it sound even better. participating in 15 shows + one certified score could be a great way to participate to the WF.
Now, if there could be more shows less than 400 miles away from my home... oh well...

15 shows can include a certified from my understanding.
That is 14 singles plus a double... 128 points if you came in first place at every single event.
That sounds a lot easier than 100 points plus a top 15 certified. I'm pretty sure that anyone in an area without many multipoint events will hit 15 shows just to get their 100 points anyways.
I think 20 to 25 is more reasonable.
