A suggestion from someone who doesn't compete in DB Drag. Someone mentioned it earlier also----if you move up a class (start at the bottom with Mini-Street and go up), you can not move back down a class during that competition year.
So if a street car pulls the glove box and is in extreme, he can not go back to street for that year (including finals). That will stop the upward movement in a hurry.
As to extreme competitors showing up with non-extreme vehicles for points. It doesn't take an insider to see how far down the numbers are. Make it somewhat easier on those guys to get points. If they show up with a street car and compete in extreme--so what. They are not taking trophies from local/street competitors. They have to get 50 points with the extreme vehicle. They are simply saving money, but still participating and supporting db drag. I wouldn't do anything to possibly prevent someone from competing in this class.
If you want real limitations (as to what is extreme)on extreme competitors just put it in place at multi-pointers and/or finals (meaning they have to bring their extreme vehicles to those shows, not point chasers). Encourage everyone and their brother to show up at local 1xers----no matter the class.

But, what if a legitamite street competitor competes all year long and gets his 100 points for finals, then at the last show before finals, the judge rules that his new box is 1/8" too tall and he has to compete in Street Max or SS. Does that mean that he can't go to finals in street because of a minor infraction?

[/QB][/QUOTE] Well I thought that this was pretty clear in the rules that you couldnt jump classes if the class you are in is to competitve. But I see that all you have to do is get a Cert. in any that your car fits in and then just pull out a woofer or 2 when finals come around because you cant win there regular class. That would not be the same as the box being to high. I understand things like that happen but woofers dont just fall out of there holes.LOL

i say too bad,, measure twice- cut once, take an 1/8" off the box, you should be prepared for dbdrag.. shouldnt be an excuse...
this sport is too soft towards dq'ing and the like. if your car doesnt fit the requirements of the class and you try and compete in it, sorry...
