Are rules simply made up as the dB Drag world turns?

Are rules simply made up so one person or team can win?

Im just curiuos.

The dB Drag Racing Association (dBDRA) has gone to great lengths to insure that the rules for competing in dB Drag Racing are as comprehensive and unambiguous as possible. Even so, there will invariably be times when a particular application or installation will fall outside the scope of this rulebook. When those occasions arise, it is the responsibility of the head judge to make a determination as to whether the incident in question abides by the “spirit” of dB Drag Racing competition. As a competitor, it is your responsibility to understand the rules contained in this book and to abide by any decisions rendered by the head judge.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last year Wayne Harris told the judging staff that he wanted to see better looking install. He told us to allow for custom installs. When a competitor showed up at finals with a custom fiberglass install in the rear of their vehicle the judging staff ruled this legal per Wayne Harris's instructions. It is the judging staff's opinion that this install was one of the better looking installs at the show.

The judging staff unanimously agreed that there needs to be some definition in the rule book regarding what a custom install is before it gets out of control. We have submitted our suggestions to Wayne Harris for consideration in next years rule book.

So with this being said, I would wait and see exactly what will or will not be allowed for 2005.

Why dont you wait, like the rest of us?
My car is still in pieces because there is plenty of time yet to put it together, test it, and make a run. Finals isnt for Ten months.

If I showed up to Game 7 of the World Series and was found to have a Corked Bat in pre game warm-ups, what would happen to me? Even if I said that I 'didnt see it in the rulebook, my bad'.

Some people dont build just for finals though?

They build for the season, flat out all year, rather than sandbagging til "finals"

its always been my thoughts to have rules out the day after finals. even for usaci, since most of us are there for finals, why not make the meeting the next day, save on extra traveling and just take care of it [Smile]

A judges meeting at finals, discussions in the next few weeks and final draft one month after finals.

The sooner the better IMO.

Since there isn't suppose to be any major rule changes I don't understand why it takes as long as last year either. But what do I know I will just sit back and wait like the rest of us.

those people that set records before rules offically come out, and if those vehicles are found to be illegal after the fact, those records will be taken away ...

I believe Wayne has already stated this in another thread.

Please let us get back on the topic ..
