I was just at an event yesterday at the shop that I mentioned in the string about paychecks. I had left on very bad terms with the shop- owner some years ago and have since heard stories of all the bad things he has said about me since then. Anyway, he was holding a self-sanctioned event with the kicker rep co-sponsoring. It was a legal SPL/Install and some SQ mixed together. I decided that I needed to find out if he was still hostile toward me and if the event was going to be corrupt (bias toward the shops own cars) that I would attend. I went to the shop,as soon as I showed up and walked right up to the owner and asked permission to compete at his event. He said yes...Which worried me... Anyway, the event starts with SPL. The judge sits in the front seat of each vehicle with the competitor in the driver seat operating the system. The judge points the mic in a quasi db drag style position and makes readings off of a Bass Mechanics disc. When it got to my turn I start pulling out the podium (the only one there) and he did something odd. He stuffed the mic between the seat bottom and the center console where it would barely read all muffled, he then got out of the car and had me do my hit. The best I was getting out of the mic was a 136.2 or so . I decided that since the crowd was gathered around I'd play some crazy notes that would make a point...My car was the loudest. I had the whole steering wheel and shaft bouncing with the dash, the roof, doors and windows were flexing and so on. Of course this is with the lower notes,I don't read quite as high on so the point was to look bad A$$. When it was over and the judge said 136.2 the crowd started freakan. Things like "what the F@%$" and "no F'n way" were be said all over the place. I didn't say anything to the judge and left the crowd to bitch. Well when it came to SQ I was wondering how they would screw me.... I found out .... The judge came over to my car glanced at it but didn't want to see or here any of the many things that were done for points"for usac". He instead turned to me and said the owner and I have decided on your points. Whoaw... I didn't say anything again and let the crowd freak out on the fact that he didn't even sitin the car and listen, he just walked away. By this time over half the crowd and competitors had left and everyone was saying stuff like " this is bull****" and calling the whole thing a waste. Needless to say I didn't win SPL or SQ. (and lots of the people there knew I was practically undefeated last year) So I think my mission was a success There could be no doubt that the show was fixed any everyones eyes I feel. What do you think? Sorry for the length. If It looks like I'm a braggart up there please don't take it that way. There are many cars better than mine and USAC Finals demonstrated that. It's just that If I fall in the middle of the pack there and won Spring break padre along with a host of other events then I must be a next level. And it was kind of obvious and this little show. I just wanted everyone to see how bad this show was.

Oh my, sorry to hear about that Tech....thats really bogus if ya ask me. I have a question, was the kicker rep the judge, because if that was the case that would make kicker look really bad as well and give them a bad name in your area to...just wonderin if he wasnt the judge, why he didnt say anything???

Kicker rep guy wasn't judging, he was kind of oblivious to the whole thing. He supplied trophies and a demo truck. The shop supplied the judge, t-shirts and time. The kicker rep probably started hearing things by the end of the show because he got scarce. I wasn't able to ask him how he felt. I have nothing against kicker or this rep...(good product) It was all on the shop owner, and at least several of his employees.
By the way guys, I didn't take this personal even though it was with the owner. I consider it a victory to make the cheating so obvious to everyone.

Ahh kewl Tech kewl, I know it was a victory for ya, but still it sucks that you didnt get ur trophie....I know all last year the trophies avoided me he he but this year will be different :o)

I should mention that a Advance Audio built ride did take a couple of firsts in my class. So not all the cars that won were from that shop. I do feel that means they didn't have enough of their cars to fill out the classes. hehe cynical, ain't I? Anyway that advance audio built guy was real loud so I don't take anything away from him. (jake built his)

Sounds like a competitors shop in my home town...up in canada..
consantly putting down my work and achievements....also has said i am the reason my store is no longer....( It was torched) I was blamed, and acquited!!
Yeh right i worked 16-20hrs a day 6days a week due to the love of the job...I have been away from the business now for about a year to let things settle down ...Now i am returning...BIGGER AND BETTER
LOOK OUT SW-ONTARIO I'AM REURNING AND I'AM PISSED!

I'll Tell Yah what that shop is gonna do, they're gonna take their shinny little plastic trophies and polish 'em up REAL GOOD. Make it so that I can see myself, then hold them out, and turn them ever so slowly sideways. Then I'm gonna shove 'em up their CANDIED @$$!!
I'm glad that you were able to have fun at the show Tech, shows like that did tick me off back in PA.....argh....hrmph. One shop's word and equip against anothers and the hosting one ALWAYS won. 'Least you know that USAC and dBDrag are cool and fair - thanks Wayne !!

Well kewl you got them back. There was a show similar to that near me. I was not compeating but I have friends that did. Certain people that had larger systems were not allowed to compete and other were. Kinda sucked. But O well.
