To begin this story, you all should know what car and the components that were being installed: Car - '97 cavalier w/factory cd player Components - (2) 10" MTX Road Thunders (factory bandpass box) and a Jensen (i hate that word) 200w amp.
NOT MY CAR!!!
After a friend and i ran the power wire and wired a Line Output Converter from the 6x9s in the rear deck so we would have some RCAs to deal with, we proceeded to splice into the factory's power antenna wire (so we thought). We then installed and wired everything up really clean and put the fuse in under the hood.
Suprisingly, we heard some thump! It was average thump - i guess. It was what the girl we were installing it for wanted anyway. We then cleaned up all of our tools and put everything back in place. Then we tested it one more time. Sounded the same - we were done. Nope!
Shut the car off and were heading inside before taking the car back to her. I noticed we had left something out of the trunk, so i opened it. As soon as it opened, we heard a sweep (maybe about 50Hz) come from the subs and it grew louder and louder the farther that it opened. Also noticed that the amp was still on even though the car wasn't. Turns out that my friend, the idiot, wired up the battery wire instead of the power antenna! I'll never let him live this one down - never!
More along the lines of funny as hell - a neighbor that lives 3 houses away came to my door and complained about the loud music! Ummm sorry sir - this is an MTX and Jensen ( i hate that word) setup. No loud music here!
