In 1982, I was working as a repair technician in a 2-way radio shop fixing Motorola hand-held radios. We also had an install bay where installers would install and service two-way radios in commercial vehicles, police cars, and ambulances.
I remember one particular instance when a new installer came to work. The city had just dropped off a new police cruiser and this particular installer was assigned the job of putting a new radio in the vehicle. After working on the vehicle for several hours, the installer called the city and told them it was ready to pick up. A short while later, a runner from the city came by and picked up the vehicle. As the driver backed out of the bay, the antenna for the radio subsequently got pulled right through the sheet metal of the fender.
Closer inspection revealed that the installer had conveniently zip-tied the antenna's coax cable directly to the drive shaft of the vehicle.
This was the installers first, last, and only job at our shop.

As you might imagine, I see and hear lots of crazy things. The problem is, these people are still around. I'll see what I can do about keeping their identities anonymous.
Keep 'em coming...

Well, I can't figure out how he managed to do that, unless it was intentional, but it's still pretty funny.

We had similiar at our shop. Our"experienced" installer put a deck in an older Chevy2 and zip tied the wiring harness to the wiper transmission.
When the customer turned on the wipers , it would pull the harness out far enough that the headunit would shut down. Wipers go up, stereo shut off, wipers come down to rest, stereo turns on.
It was so funny when he found out that it wasn`t a dash brace he tied onto.

That is not as bad as my one friend. He was installing a headunit into his probe i believe and somehow hooked it up to the turn signal. In order to have his stereo on he had to have his tun signal on. Needless to say he still has not lived that one down. .
