Just let you know on a little trouble I ran across. I was building a box for a friend of mine, and it needed to be 45 inches wide. I went to Home Depot and got some MDF. I then set the table saw fence to 3 inches, figuring that it would cut the piece down to 45. I had allowed 1/2 and inch for carpet and the like. Well when I had the box all together (all pieces other than the ends were down 3 inches), and started laying out the woofer placement on the front, it looked kinda funny. I measured over 22.5 to find the center, and then decided to measure from the other end. 23 3/8?? what the heck? I then measured the entire length and got 45 15/16" The sheet must have been larger than that as I still have a 3 inch strip. I had to cut the end off the box and glue on a new end piece. It was not fun. I ran into some other problems too, and had to cut the corners off. All in all, it took me about 2 weeks of work for that stupid box.

Also, all 4 x 8 sheets of any type of wood actually measure 49" x 97". So that is why you had 45 15/16 left. 49 - 45 15/16=3 1/16 Which means you probably used a 1/16 inch blade width. Just some creative mathematics....lol

I know that a 2X4 is not really that, but I didn't realize that the big boards were too. If they had shorted me, I wouldn't have had the problems. Oh well. I got it to work. And just another tip, if you use the liquid nails adhesive caulk, if you try to cut it with a circular saw, it is flammable and starts smoking profusely. Just a work of caution. I had to cut the end down with a good ole crosscut saw.

They call it a TwoByFour because that is the rough cut before final finish milling. Essentially we all get ripped off by paying for lumber that ends up on the floor. In Europe '2by' lumber is referred to exact dimensions, and in millimetres. Plus, can you see a redneck asking for a OneAndaHalfByThreeAndaHalf?!? NO, it's a TooBuhFer! As for the 48x96 vs 49x97....We get both here in town in most types of wood. Always measure!
Thankfully the fence has a 50" capacity so it usually doesn't matter

what pisses me off is when you forget to misure for the blade, so I went out and bought a table saw to take care of that proublem, and then dumb aaaaaaaaaaaaass me I forgot to measure the sides right and they were short the width of the wood wich really ****ed!
