I cleaned out my garage over the weekend and put a couple of dual 15" boxes to the curb with a big FREE sign painted beside them. Within a few minutes a lady pulls up in a new Maxima and says she wants both of them for her boyfriend. I say that I cna hold them till she can get a truck and come pick them up because I noticed she had a little girl in the back seat only a few months old and there was no way she was going to fit the boxes in there. I tell her they aren't going to fit bt she says she must get them and moves her daughter to the front seat as she gets me to help her shove the 2 monstrous boxes into her back seat. [Eek!] In TN it is illegal to have any child under the age of 8 or under 70lbs in the front seat and she just moved her little girl like it was nothing. [Confused]

Wow she risks her Childs life, risked losing her child, risks paying a boat load in fines. all this for some free speaker boxes for her BF. Some people are just (special) [Smile]

most of you guys must be young....cause guess what when i was a kid

there were no laws about kids in the front seat
no airbags etc and im still here

just think if it was so bad then would your parents have survived to have you.

maybe people should see that maybe things are being taken too seriously now a days.

I think they are to an extent. But I also know my dad is 70 so he has been around for a while. and while I notice the increase in traffic in my life time he constantly tells me how on highways that are now packed you could drive miles with out seeing anyone and the reason people didn’t die in drunk driving accidents was the just were not the same amount of people on the road. When I was a kid I used to ride in the back dash below the window and sleep when we went on trips. But there is no way I would let my child ride there in the world of today

so while I do agree with you about some things taken to seriously it comes back to this was all over free speaker boxes. [Smile]

No cop is going to take it that far [Roll Eyes] especially when most newer vehicles have the ability (some depend on weight) to turn the passenger-side airbag off.

I've been pulled over for having my 6yr old in the front seat of my Burban in her carseat, Cop realized the second and third rows were packed with boxes and my truck has no airbags so he just let it go. [Cool]

what about the people who dont use any car seats? or seat belts on their kids? many survive but its better to be safe then sorry and back in the days not many cars had airbags like they do now. i know my truck the airbag cant be turned off.

you never never know when your gonna get in an accident.

trust me once back in 2002 me and my girl and her parents where going back to her house we where at the gas stationg and i tell them put on your seat belt you never know waht might happen they laugh at me say nothing gonna happen boy

well 5 blocks down were at the light stoped and we see a big cargo van coming straight for us and bam hit our nissan sentra i get out the car is flipped around the van flipped over i go to the front and see both my father in law and mother in law uncancious i tought they where dead i couldnt see how my girl was cause the seat in the back came out and it was between us so when i was walking around the car i was praying that she was okay she was 4 months pregnant

well i get around to her and shes okay but she tells me her stomach hurts so we all go to the hospital. i walk away from the accident and my girl losses the kid [Frown] and my father in law and mother in law who werent wearing their seat belts stay at hte hospital for over a month getting all kinds of surgery and had a bunch of broken bones all of that just cause they tought nothing wouldnt happen. only thing happend to me was my back hurt the next day and had a bruise from the seat belt.

ps to this date they both cant walk without a walker and my mother in law is still get surgery every now and then for that accident. so if you think oh well nothing is gonna happen well the day it does your gonna regret it just for being lazy

that is one reason i have not bought a crx that accident was to scary and i know it can happen with the explorer but i feal a tad safer in my explorer then i would a little crx
