don't you just love it when water gets into your car and you have collected about 3 inches. i got in my car today and it smelled funny, like wet clothes. what a wonderful aromatic smell,i would compare it to my dump early this morning. i didn't really suspect water got in the car, but i did after i opened the hatch and my unfinished mdf (sponge) box was wet on the bottom and so was the carpet.

i assume i bought a piece of $h1t car,i pull the carpet and i see a lake in the back of my car, it was hot so i dove right in and the water was great. about three inches of standing water where the spare tire sits. i have no clue where it came from,i dried it all up and checked for holes in the floor....saw none. also didn't see a hole in the glass or around the rubber seal for the hatch.

i havn't ever had that smell in my car untill now and its rained alot worse before, but i also didn't have any beat in my car before. FINALLY MY QUESTION?
could the sub box suck air/water in through the hatch area? it does rattle real bad when i
t-t-t-turn it up. but i basically turn the bass off when its raining because i cant have my window down. hmmmm or i could be a complete moron that didn'ty close my hatch all the way and rain got in that way. i don't see how thats possible either because i have a tendency to slam things shut.
what could it be? please give me some ideas to check out before it rains again.

well easy way to find the source is to get a buddy to sit in the hatch area with it stripped out carpet and all and close the htach then get a hose and start spraying the car from every possible direction under the car top of the car back of the car and so forth til the hole is discovered if nothing turns up then i guess you diddnt close it all the way

It might have come from the top of the hatch. I have a hatchback and it had bad weathertrippping on it and every time it rained I saw a poolof water under the spare tire. A lot of times on the older hatchbacks there will be a rust hole under where the spare tire sits. I just filed it down real smooth and welded a piece of metal over the hole. that usually fixes it real good.

Maybe you should drill a hole in the bottom so the water leaks out of the car [Smile] then it wouldent pile up and create a pool of which we could all go swimming in at world finals. Or even have the bikini girls take a dip and show us a few things or two [Wink]
