I once hooked up two 2-0hm Kicker XPL 12's in parallel to an Earthquake 300TX bridged mono. The amp kicked in protection mode and then blew the fuse. I hooked it up correctly and it worked fine for about a month and then it fried. Moral of the story- never listen to ignorant friend who thinks a regular amp can handle one ohm bridged mono.

I picked up a Infinity Kappa 202a for about $50 from a really rich friend who just wanted to get rid of it.

I used this amp while I was looking my PPI A600.2

Well the day came around that I found the amp I was waiting for and I had about 7 subs laying around in my basement that me or my little brother weren't going to use anymore..

2 older 2 ohm Kicker XPLs
3 older 4 ohm Kicker COMPs
and 2 Pioneer Premier 4 Ohm subs (these are actually great subs but I decided to through them in there anyway)

well I brided everything and hooked it up just to see what would happen..

I put them in my car and I cranked it up..

after about 5 minutes I opened the trunk and that aluminum amp was a pinkish color and all of the silk screening was curled up around the edges

and the plastic piece that covered the setting was bubbled up and melted to it.

I waited a while and put onlt the pioneers on it and it seemed to work fine..
I sold the amp for $40
the kid is still using it today

in my first car, i was running two 10" rf audiophiles off of a rf series 1 4600. shouldn't have been any problem, right? seperated the spider on both tens first. after those were replaced, i burned up the right side RCAs. that was in 95, and i just got it in the mail, repaired, two days ago.

The first amp I smoked was a little Orion 220GT.Power wire came loose and shorted it out.Never knew such a bad smell could come out of such a small amp! Oh ya,it was a borrowed amp...oops!My second amp I blew was a PPI A600.It didn't like running at a 1 ohm mono load!OOPS AGAIN!Actually played for 3 hours or so and was damn loud, but then just stopped.HA!Did have a warranty so they fixed it and I still have it.

So I walk back and there my Jensen is, smoking and water all over it.

I still haven't killed my RF 800a2 though. I've been runnin' her at 1ohm mono, and she has yet to cut out on me. I don't see why people say they don't make RF's like they used to...

About 2 weeks ago I was helping a friend hook up some subs in his truck that he bought from some guy for like 50 bucks. Really old MTX 10's and a little THUMP amp. Anyway we hooked it up to his Jensen CD Player, wow! Anyways, shot the RCA jacks out of the amp and burnt a hole in his carpet.

Jensens seem to be the popular amp to destroy in here, so I guess I'll join the party w/ my melted Jensen story. The very first amp I owned was a used Jensen I bought from a guy at my old high school (been so long, i don't remember the model) I took it home and hooked it up (already had the truck wired and waiting). It was bridged to 2 ohms on a pair of 12W0-4's. I turned on my head unit, had bass for about 30 seconds, and them just smoke. When i opened up the amp, most of the board had actually fused together into a big green and silver blob... good learning experience for me, Jensen sucks!
