Everyone at this point probably has heard of my run of bad luck. I'd just thought I'd share all of it with you just to pass some time
About a year and a half ago, my kenwood deck's display went out. I liked to label it 'possessed' because it would still function but the LCD was out and none of the buttons work (yet it was playing the CD last in it). I made plans to get it replaced with another Kenwood. The installers were backed up a week so I had to wait. Well one of the salesman, in an endeavor to fix my HU, reset the controls. Well it didn't work and now instead of music, I had static (cause my radio presets were lost). I asked if they could disconnect it and he said just remove the battery fuse. I did so the next morning while it was still connected to the battery. Met with improper tools (needed an allen-head) I dropped the fuse accidently. Zap, pzt, smoke and mirrors later my radio static problems were corrected because I blew my fuse. Life was good until the following weekend for the new HU install.
Turns out I fried my Soundstream Rubicon 1002 which was only a few months old. I was ticked but it gave me an excuse to by a Tarantula which I was fantasizing about anyway
Slummed to e-bay, won a Tarantula but the guy never shipped it. Scammed hardcore for $1300. I won't digress further b/c I can write pages of detail on it.
Decided to buy a Tarantula online and got one for $1289. Amp was installed and died after 10minutes (or so the installers told me)
Shipped it back to Soundstream for repairs, 6 months later and I get it back repaired. Installed it, life is good.
I decided to buy it's brother the DaVinci. Try to order one from the same online dealer. I wait 3 months trying to get one and they keep saying it isnt' released yet (um, the amp is old to begin with). Disgusted I slum to e-bay and find one for sale. This time I use ecrow
Get the DaVinci, installed it (it was missing some clamps, installer made some out of MDF), works, some friggen awesome.
4 months later, DaVinci goes up in smelly smoke. Disgusted about being e-bay raped in the past and raped by SS's slow repair time, I abandon Soundstream for Zapco.
Research Zapco amps, drool, order some. Get it installed. Life is good but my 9515 doesn't sound as good with the dual 9.0s as it did with the Tarantula. Figured it was 'just my imagination'.
Ohio Generator alternator dies!
OG alternator rebuilt by Dominick
I have some fine tuning to do with my wiring so I get the necessary supplies (d-block, symbilink splitter, etc.). Meanwhile I learn that the 9.0s have a preclip level that more than likely wasn't adjusted (factory setting is 600W). I dance in anticipation that I'll hit 150dB with my 9515 once the amps are properly adjusted.
Through more 'assumptions', I toast my 9515 b/c only the master 9.0 was properly set, the slaved, second 9.0 was still default settings. Cooked both coils of my 9515.
Now it's time to go back to the teet of JL Audio. We'll see what I can blow up there
I'm really getting tired of this run of bad luck.
To recap (for those of you that said, 'wow, that's a lot to read'):
HU died rubicon 1002 died (my fault) get scammed for Tarantula off e-bay order Tarantula online (arrives DOA) wait 6 months for warranty repair order DaVinci dies after ~4 months replace all amps with Zapco OG alternator dies alternator repaired and reinstalled fine tuning 9.0s ends up with blown 9515

That really sucks...Yeah gotta be careful who you order from on ebay...Also next time make sure TRIPLE check the pre-sets are set correctly before unleashing power like that on a single sub.

some people on ebay are just crooks. thats why i NEVER buy from anyone that just started selling some realy good equipment when their feedback just shows buying not selling. ive bought alot of equipment off ebay new and used and so far have only had a few problems. mostly slow shiping. or ups shaming my equipment. at least it was insured.LOL but never ripped off more than 75 bucks. and with those two items that where messed up i sold. broken and got 1/2 my money back for selling it broken. and was planly stated broken AS-IS. i just sold a broken 15inch kicker comp vr to a guy for 50 bucks shiped. i dont know if its messed up but i know the ohm load checks 1.6ohms instead of 4. and the sub doesnt make any scratching noise when pressed on and moves freely. but my amp couldnt hold that ohm load and just poped fuses. tho you can always try to screw over the main company i guess by after buying a brand new saying this sub is it i guess. but i dont like kicker subs any more. only the L7s but thats to much cash for my liking for the ones i want

well my first stroke of bad luck came last week. I put this kids' CD player in his car 4 1/2 weeks ago and he came to on wendesday and told me his car had a small fire or something behind the CD player somewhere. And he's trying to blame me for this and I was Like WTF?! I hooked everthing up right and used electric tape ot insulate the wire connections. But even if for some reason the tape did fall off it would have hit something and blown a fuse. So i can't think of any reason why it would be my fault. He didn't even pay me for this but he still have to find out if anyhting happend to the car he said his dome light and dash lights don't work so i hope everything comes out OK after this cause it's pissing me off that i did everything right and didn't get paid now i'm being blamed for screwing something like this up.

First off, you SHOULD be blamed for his burning car- why would you make connections with bare wire then use electrical tape to cover them??? Spend $3 and do it the right way with butt connectors or the like. Jeez, some people.

BoominBlazer, It kinda IS your fault, but not because of the tape. The same thing happened to me this past weekend, my father-in-law's Jeep Cherokee was hard to start. He thought it was a weak battery, and wanted me to change it out for him. No problem. But, then I remembered that I just put a battery in there maybe 8 mos. ago. Then I started thinking about why it could be weak already. Didnt have a clue. I went to his house, told him to start it, for the first time he notices SMOKE coming out from behind the glovebox. I instantly disconnect the pos. on the battery. Pull the glovebox out, and, there it is to my horror. The wires to the glovebox light had somehow ended up between the screw and the screwhole, the screw sank right through the wire, only the Positive I'm guessing b/c the foam "insulation" around the wire started heating up and smoking. I clipped the wire, reconnected the battery, and everything was fine. Except for the fact that the domelight and a couple other interior lights where out. After fixing the wire, and replacing the fuse it's as good as new. Lesson learned, never to be repeated....

when i install a head unit or an amp for someone i use a check list and before they leave the car they sign the check list to acknowledge that the problems the car already has and they are also signing to release me from any fault after they leave with any other of there none audio related system other than what i have installed. even then they have 30 days to get back to me with any head unit or amp problems. that keeps my head out of the water and it has been very helpfull in the past some people think they can bring there crap to me and then blame me for it not working, but when they see that you haven't opened a single panel and have only a sheet of paper for them to sign stating that there junk is broke to start with then they start to back trac, and you will see the type cause they will say stuff like it was working last night or just a few minutes ago and all i say is well its not working now and you have to sign this if you want me to start work, if not then buh bye. you really have to watch out for the broke little teenagers with the "oh i did it myself" hondas. they are just waiting to get you.

Well I was happy with the SQ on both Soundstream amps (even the rubicon I's sounded good). The DaVinci sounded great using "out of the box" 4-way setting. Even my installer, leary about Soundstream in general, was damn impressed. I really hope you get it working again so you can hear it's phenominial SQ. The Tarantula is also great but sucks too much current for a daily driver
Both amps, IMO, are the "bling-bling" of amps. Look fantastic mounted on black plexi :drools:
i bought all new concept equipment back in november of 2001. after a few months, the 2500d blew, had to fight with concept to warrenty it out. november 2002, it blows again, the second time it blew a week efore i had to drive down to miami.
i bought 2 pairs of compents. they wouldnt fit in my car and got the run around from concept that they would warenty them out with the new ones. well they sent the old style ones and basically said they werent going to give the new ones.
now, i just got done replacing my interior and was hooking the rca's to the back of my deck and alls i hear is this popping noise and then i smell smoke.
now i have 3 amps that have blown. i will never ever buy concept again.
now, im going to put focal up front and back, with some better amps likediamond, zapco, audison and the like. this way ill get something that wont blow in a few months.
i know your frustration. you get so mad you want to reach through the phone and smack them accross the head and tell them to give you **** that works.
