Well it finally happend, after 4 yeasr if car ownership I have had my first break in. and It wasnt really a break in, I left my doors unlocked. Anyway they took my 3 year old pioneer HU which I was going to replace anyway. What makes me mad about it though is that they didnt do a good job with it. They cut the wires all the way back into the dash, and as we all know all you have to do is un hook the harness . What is funny is that I am in the middle of a huge install upgrade, and was planning on putting my 9515's in there last night but it rained so I halted production. Good thing I didnt have all my amps in!! They also shattered my mothers rear right window on her mercedes and didnt take anyhitng caus they couldnt fit their hands through the glass to reach the inside. Oh and we just moved back to the same house after living in another part of town for 6 years WELCOME TO THE HOOD!!

I know the feeling and I am sorry it happened to you. It happened to me about 5months ago but they took everything, they had my tahoe about 16 hours and took mr 20 inch rims, tv's in my headrest, amps, stereo, well you guys get the hint he or they did leave me the roof, damn they even tore up my seats and put oil all over it. The good thing was that I had good insurance and they replaced every single thing and even upgraded my old cloth interior with leather and got all newer equipment. So I guess I ended up all right but damn was I pissed when it happened. People need to keep their hands off other peoples stuff or have their hands cut off!!! Oh wait maybe I've been drinking too much coffee....please visit my website to see my progress so far on my new build up!! LATERS And WATCH YOUR BACK!!!

man i had four 15's, six amps and 10 mids/highs in a 'wagon i used to drive. one morning i walked out to my car and found the drill i left in the back seat laying on top of the car. the rear gate was open and everything was uninstalled.
all of the amps were piled in a stack and all of the speakers and subs were laying around the rear of the car.
the jerks used my tools to pull everything out. the wierd part was putting it all back it. everything was there right down to the last screw!

i wish it would have been the same story the second time i got hit.... [Frown]

Hey man, that really sucks, I know because I had my truck broken into on campus a few weeks ago. The idiots ripped my whole dash up trying to get the radio out(which can be done in a matter of seconds with the right tool) and messed up my sub trying to get it out. I don't think I've ever felt such rage...would LOVE to find the low-life bastards and run 'em over! Better yet, someone needs to come up with a new security system for cars that jsut shoots the person breaking in!!! I konw, I know, not likely to happen to legal reasons, but wow how great would it be to come back to your broken in car, and have the theif there laying on the ground with a shot to the leg or something???? Or perhaps jsut knocked out somehow, gas or something

Well, I think the main problem with something like that is legal issues. Like, if someone breaks into your vehicle and gets hurt by something that you did to the security system, I bet there is a way for them to sue you...which is a real shame and completely goes against common sense. I feel like if someone is invading my privacy I should be able to retaliate. People would think twice about breaking into people's cars if they knew there was a chance they would get seriously hurt doing it.

I wonder if some sort of pepperspray system would be legal? Like when they break in it clouds the whole interior with pepperspray a few seconds after they open the door. Of coarse, the problem with a system like that is that it may accidentally go off when you're driving...that would be a nasty situation.

I guess I just have to hope that I happen to catch someone breaking into my sh*t sometime and hand them a beatdown, personally. But, with the crazy laws out there I wouldn't be suprised if I could be sued for doing THAT too...

I know that I am very interested in developing a new type of ACTIVE security system. If anyone has good ideas, let me know. I've had two systems stolen and do NOT want it to happen again...I am fairly good at programming microcontrollers, I wonder if they could find a use in this situation? feel free to give me an e-mail if you're interested

Ash

I did see on T.V. the other day that they have a new system for car jackers. If someone is near your car and happens to want to take you out of it to steal your car you can flip a switch and step on a button next to the gas pedal. This chain of events causes two pipes located under the doors to shoot 3 foot flames out! Never know what they will come up with next.

i think that they do things the way they do. i mean cutting the harness all the way back so u cant use it. seems like someone hates you or osmething, and tearing up the dash and your subs, that just seems like someone has no clue about systems and they just wanna make a buck, my brother got his system jacked a while back and they found the kid that did it. he has been cought for this a couple times and seems to always get off with just a slap on the hand. people piss me off by stealing.

But on the serious note now!!! If someone really has a good idea as far as keeping someone from stealing my truck again I would really appreciate it!! As I said before mine has been taken twice, and both times they got in by using a screwdriver under my doorhandles and prying them up getting to the little steel lever that pushes or actiavtes my locks!! After they get in they disable my alarm..(first one DEI..second one VIPER..I am now one my third one that pages me now but back to my story)..and then they commence to tear up my steering column. I tried to by some type of steel collar or something for my truck and noone sells a system like that and also noone has come up with agood system to keep people from getting into my truck so easily through the handle method. I mean I know if I fixed the handle method all they would do is break the window but hell I am so pissed that I am now really considering changing out the window to plexi or something so they cant break it, but first I must find a way to get those $%^^ ass*&^%$ from breaking in through the handles!! Well I think I am mad enough now so I will calm down [Mad] [Mad] now [Roll Eyes] [Big Grin] ok I am good now. But seriously I think we should post whatever good ideas we all have so that we can keep our gear and our rides from getting in those punks hands!!

shave the doors, install those actuators etc via remote to open doors <kinda like suicide doors>

they also have those hood locks via alarm

have a back-up batt for alarm similar to
extra batt for sound system

engine kill switch thru cigarette lighter knob

block the access for slim jims /auto shop metal

take out the primary ignition wire under hood for
long street parking

but all these are just obstacles to slow them down=( power tools are so portable
grinder/drill/jig/torch everythin actually=(
thru experience i found that keeping everything in stock looking conditions and not playing mean
sweet sounds around within 4 miles from the crib
will have better chance to avoid those s.o.b.
as the old fellas like me say lo profilin'
even good neighborhoods.. i had my share of misfortunes so i feel the breeze

a good idea to save your system...go find you a midget, give em a shotgun and throw em in your trunk. just toss em food once in awhile and let em out to go to the bathroom

I think something that they wouldn't expect would be best. Theives might expect the alarm but after that being disabled wouldn't expect a secondary one from the box.
I was thinking about putting something in my car to stop someone from stealing my subs but not an alarm system because I'll only have the car for another year.
I was thinking about air horns and a smoke bombs from the box (not the part for the subs just a compartment in the back of it)out a vent somewhere that goes off when they push in the grill. I was thinking about having it wired to the remote wire for the amp so it would only be on when the HU is off (I have a Blaupunkt HU with Keycard so it would only be off when I put that in)

Way I see it with air horns theives will panic and with smoke bombs won't be able to see what they're doing so they can't mess up my subs or amp before they go. I'm not really worried about proffessional theives just some idiot trying to break into my car while I'm in school.

Anyone think this is a good idea or a waste of time?

Any ideas on making this work?
