i love car audio, i love my family. but now i have to choose between car audio and my father. i am living in my parents' house. i work 6:30-3:30 m-f 6:30-12:30 saturdays. i make decent money for a kid the dropped out of school and got his GED. i am going to try getting into RITOP this july or september. anyways...i had an 88 astro van GIVIN to me. my friend's boss (my old boss) gave it to me to make up for what he owed me, $200. it runs beautiful, only thing wrong with it is that the guy that used to own was a scumbag and the interior needed to be re-done, no big deal. i get this van and bring it to my parents house. i have spent almost $12,000 on this thing. it has a wall with 8 12's. 4 amps. whole **** load of batteries, bigger alternator, the whole nine. interior is all done in black. whole thing has been sounddeadened. my friend and i lowered it and i planned on buying rims n tires next week. then in a couple weeks paint it. then it would be complete. but tonight my dad starts bitchin at me saying i am wasting my money on stupid **** and i need to get my **** straightened out. well damn, i am sorry he never had a hobby when he was younger and that his dad was an asshole. wtf. he said it'd make em happy if i got a real job and a girlfriend and started doin that ****. come on, i plan on havin a "real" job someday and a family, let me have my toys right now, damn. he told me the van has to be out of here by wednesday or i am kicked out of the house. what he doesn't understand is...there is no place for me to go....and if the van goes i am going with it. i will take it up my road, turn around, get goin as fast as i can and run into the big maple tree across the road from our house. i will get rid of the van and.... me. he doesn't realize how i get this time of year now that my grandmother has passed away. she was the only woman i have ever respected and shown love to. same with my grandfather, he is the only guy. btw, he's still alive. i don't know what to do. there is no talkin to my asshole father. i do not know what to do. i am sorry for wasting everyones' time, if ya read this, i don't know, i think i just needed to get things out of me. i appologize

I'm going through the same stuff right now with my parents im not stressing to much though I had an uncle that died about a year ago but i survived but i am still here just put it in the back of your mind. We don't need you to do something drastic. So just be mental and laugh at all the good stuff.

While I understand your negativity towards your father, I will at this point urge you to not use any profanity in your posts. Please have respect for the others using the board. Thank you. QT

well as for that "story" id have to say that you should explain to your dad that this is your hobby and its what really interests you. if its not to the point that u cant pay for your car or money u owe him cuz u spend it all on the van then yea give in to him. but whatever u do dont run your car into a tree.... (i almost did it) but that was girl problems and my parents combined.

so think things through and im sure u can compromise with ur dad... if hes a complete d*ck then just leave.

Why don't you sit down with your dad and explain to him how you feel. Try to make him understand your point of view. Bitching about it on an internet forum isn't going to help anything.

If that doesn't work, just start blasting test tones in their driveway. BTW how old are you?

Well I get the same grief sometimes too, especially after i traded a cd player for a cavie wagon that is already built for extreme competition. lol but after i told him i was planning to take the system out of my car i drive everyday he got happy. lol but what he doesnt know is Im thinking about putting a different system in the wagon. LOL what i use against him is an old hobbie he had, buy and rebuilding cars, i told him he had a hobbie and i have my own and deal with it. lol But that sucks about your dad dood. can you keep it at your friends house until you can find a place to stay?

Hey I know exactly how you feel! My wife once gave me a warning that I should remove the wall from my car, but I didn't.. and now she won't bit'ch about it

Anyways, if your dad wants you to leave, then leave. Get the van and leave. Get your own place, marry a chic (to help you pay the bills ) and live a happy dB dragger life. This will tell your dad how dedicated you are to this hobby.

Good Luck!

Insane,

Oh know it sounds kinda weak but I got these two rules off of Elvis's biography (he is the King, after all):

1. Rule one, don't sweat the little sh#t.

2. Rule two, its all little sh#t.

Try and think of how funny it'll seem in ten years time.

Nice too know you got it sorted out.
I had som hard times with my dad when i was really young (10-12 years) but when i got a bit older he gained respect for me and my skills and we ended up more as buddies then father and son.we did even do some serious partying together. He passed away 11 years ago only 52 years old.Im still missing him.

Ps if my spelling seems a little weird remember that english are not my main language.
