I was wondering if anyone else has the same law we have here in La Porte Texas where I live. The law states that excessive noise heard outside is subject to a ticket. Because I have never got a ticket for this I would not know the fine. But get this if you buy a 15 dollar license you can blast you music as loud as you want for a day. Anyone else have such a law. If you had this law would it be worth it to you?

It is for cars and anything that you feel might be loud and you dont want to get a ticket. The High School had a sound off here a wile back and had to get this nifty little notice so they could have this sound off. All proceeds went to Project Grad so I am sure it was well worth the 15 bucks

NOISE POLLUTION LAWS HAWK TOO E !!!!! I don't get how a Harley can drive past my house at 3 a.m. blasting that awful sound, yet, if I am hooking a buddies ride for sound (in my driveway) I get the 3rd degree from the cops. I know it isn't there fault and I have nothing at all against Harley's, but, what is good for the goose is good for the gander. (Sorry, had a little rant). Back to the question, unless the money was for something useful or I knew I was going to get a ticket (i.e. local hangouts), no I would not pay 15.

any audible stereo noise over 50 ft. away is subject to a $53 ticket. i can hear my EXHAUST 50 ft away from my car and it's a quiet car. no fart pipe on the end. just stock exhaust. it's a stratus! i wish they'd leave us alone and pick on the druggies or even the motorcyclists and jake brakers...

hey they do pic on the druggies! the others for the most part... well no.

we dont have laws in NJ just cops that hate loud music especially when u can hear mine from about 3 minutes before u see me when im doing 40mph.

I have learned respect for my cops around here and i no longer bug them like i used to

50 ft is dumb and so are hefty fines or jacking ur chit. but its jerks that blast their stuff which is why we have these laws. some are too strict others are rediculous but wether our law enforcement in our area is like tht or not we still need to show respect for others on the road and in their houses.

I know what its like to get pulled over for it. (7 times ) so keep it resonable or build it so its louder when u close everything up like mine

nuff said.

We have a new law in San Antonio that if it can be felt 30 ft away you can be fined. One of the local news stations did a segment on it and showed this Honda Civic with 3 JL 8s in it and the new caster said "wow this is really loud stuff". I've heard the guys car that they had on there and it's nothing to brag about. About 100 feet behind the shop I work for are houses and sometimes if we're testing outside (rather than in our bay)people call the police and then the police come by and we tell them we're doing our job just like they are. They're cool about it.

I think it might already be in effect by now. It shouldn't affect business whatsoever. "If you can get a ticket for it, it's the cool thing to do." People speed because they know they could get caught, this is the same idea. People will play loud just because the idea is there that they could be caught and ticketed. What shop do you work for?

Im up in BC Canada. In the city where I live -some- cops pull you over and say your too loud, BUT law says we can make as much noise as we want until 11pm at night Also there is this small city about 30min away, I mean SMALL. They have two cops. If they can hear your stereo standing beside your car you get ticketed. Music must be contained to the vehicle only. Everytime i got through there i Crack it UP!!!

I've been pretty lucky with noise pollution laws. I'm not sure what the law is but, the police don't bother me. As long as you turn it down at stoplights and residential areas you should fine. I don't have to worry anymore because I got my gear stolen this morning.

Yep, we have the noise law here in central florida (Avon Park to be exact). Most of the time you just get warnings, so i think i could find better ways to spend my $15.....

This is what is retarded with the laws in our countries(Canada and the US). If this noise was such a problem why would they let you if you give them 15 bucks? Why do they let you commit a "crime" if you give them some cash, doesn't that defeat the premise of having the law? Just another random form of taxation if you ask me. Whatever ever happened to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness?(in canada its Life, Liberty and Security of the Person)?

If laws were consistent it'd wouldnt be as bad, but to fine me a for bumping around while the fµcking city starts mowing grass at 7 am(I live across from a park) and waking me up, what the hell is with that?

They always have these moronic causes, like were going to crack down on noise pollution, and we'll fine speeders doing 70 in a 60 zone. We pay you to protect us, and you go out and harrass us. Do your damn job and fight actual crime, not this bull$hit.
There I vented, it's good to get it out once in a while.
