A few weeks ago I was going to london from my house, around 2hour drive. I had just serviced my car, usual crap, oil, oil filter, plugs etc etc, never checked the gearbox oil.
anyways, im driving along doing 90, in fifth gear and the fifth gear kicks out?? odd...put it back in and i can't go over 70 with it kicking out. So i put it in 4th and carry on driving.
I carry on driving and i hear this really loud griding noise...i mean loud!!! im like WTF!!! so i pullover and nothing scraping on the floor etc and the noise is always there even in neutral!!!
so i get someone to pick me up and tow the car to the garage...bloody no oil in the gearbox!!!! ohh shoot!!! had to have it replace...waited in london for like 5days before they got one and put it in!!
so..im pee'd off being in london for sooo long and i go to pick it up....check the car out and what the f**K, my speedo doesn't work, my reverse lights dont work, clicking noise everytime i change gear and some other ****!!! im pee'd off so i pay the guys the money cuz i just want to get home, $1000 bux!!!!
drive home guessing the speed, bloody great!!!
but i got everything sorted now so im a happy dog...
but to think...not checking my gearbox oil, where oil woulf have cost $20 has cost me $1000!!! what a bitch!
