we are installing a custom system in a '96 viper. after getting the basic equipment installed, the owner wanted to take it on a test drive, just to insure the speakers would be loud with the top off. since i was the installer on the job i got to go along. well, for those who do not know, the viper is a six speed manual trans.
in fourth gear, the guy had us up to 130 mph! needless to say the speakers were drowned out long before that.
when we got back to the shop, i felt like i was at six flags. i kept trying to convince the owner that i had a ticket for my next ride, hehe

well if the speakers drowned out at high speeds did you guys have to replace them? 130mph will piss on the six flags ride

not sure of the top speed of a viper I think they advertise it around 180, but every once in a while I will run into one at the drag strip and he runs low 12 second quarters on the motor.

the new viper has been anounced it is the first 500/500/500 car. it has 500 hp 500 lb/ft torque. and 500 something else. that motha is going to be fast. 12.1 seconds in teh quarter my nos powered b16 has that beat = ) *smirks*

one of the guys at my job has a 92 or 95 corvette ZR1 and he said that his has that same problem with his car but he can do 140+ mph in almost any turn on a 4 lane high way or bigger its fast

I've had my nissan up to just over 150 and my dakota up to just over 130. The truck takes a little longer to speed up once you pass 100.

Those honda speedometers are a little on the opimistic side. They tend to get very inacurate at higher speeds.
My Beretta has a governer at 115mph and my speedometer I've gotten up to 125 so you can't always go by that. But the 3100 is good for 140mph+ but I'm not willing to try that. Not scared of the speed scared of the cops!!! but it hauls ass up to ~115 and keeps pulling fast (I backed off before it hit the gov and the speedo read 125 once) Once you hit 90 it seems you really start moving quicker like very 1mph more seems like 10mph more or something hehehe. just gets all blury
I rode in an old heavy buick GS that does 11.20 1/4mile with 4 people in it and that thing was quick. It had a full interior too and it's an automatic (which isn't matched properly because it just doesn't work right with the new powerfull motor) but still going 75 and tap the gass and it feels like you got hit by a car- that's fast!!

Well when I worked at the Dodge Dealership my self and the other porter got to go gas up 2 vipers. We had to take I 75 to get to the gas station they had the account with. The manager said keep it under 60 boys. We said no problem. Now as in Db drag we say we did a 60 or a 55 meaning 160db or 155 db. To make a long story short if I was gunna die I was gunna die happy! I took it into 5th gear and when I Looked down for a split second the speedo read 150 and was going up I about $hit my pants and slowed down. that was the quickest Ive ever gotten to that gas station and the closest Ive come to a heart attack LOL I;ll never forget it as long as I live. It;s kinda like ""THIS ONE TIME;;AT BAND CAMP;; LOL

for about 40,000 dollars more (actually I don't remember the price of the car or the upgrade, but I know that both are 135 grand or so)you can easily reach 215 (the rev limiter cuts the moter), and 850 Hp. The guy that upgrades them is names Jack Hennessey or something like that. The Mclauren F1 6.1 only has 627 hp... come on guys, you can do better than that for 1.5 mil... (although the Mclauren does have less horse power, with its top speed well in access of 240 mph it would quite easily smoke a Venom... ohh yeah, once you upgrade a Viper with those upgrades its called a Venom, they put Venom enblems on it and everything).

There are several Venoms but the top one now has an 850 HP twin turbo Venom 800.It's only running 6 lbs of boost.Top speed 230 or so, does the quarter in 9.9 or so(traction limited),and does 0-60 in 2.4 sec or so.All for about $230,000.This is without the non-turbo Venom 650 carbon fiber body.
