To realize the tragedy in this story you should know that I LOVE bass music. I just got a new 2001 Toyotal Celica Thanksgiving week and it felt like forever waiting till Christmas for money to buy a sub and an amp. Anyhow I had a PPI 2400.2 and JBL 10W3 installed around Christmas. I still have the stock HU. Exactly one month later I'm driving around at lunchtime and smelled "burning components". Nothing looked wrong. UNTIL that evening when I tried to eject my CD...no response. As a matter of fact no button on my CD player seemed to work. The radio was working fine but the tape player was also fried. I brought it to Toyota (which involved leaving it there for 3 hours just for someone to look at it)(still under warranty) and they ordered a new unit which somehow came in 2 days (??). But the guy looked at me kind of funny when I said that the CD stuck in there was TLC's Fanmail (whatever) - I'm still waiting for the factory to send me that CD!!

All seemed well till ONE week later when I tried to change the radio station. Nothing happened! As a matter of fact none of the buttons worked - not even power! Fortunately I could turn the volume control knob. Calling Toyota that time was pretty funny. The service advisor was flabbergasted. I was informed that I could show up at anytime and they would look at it RIGHT away. This is where I was surprised - I drove there and the guy comes running over with a mechanic. What tickled me is that the mechanic gets in there and did exactly what I did - turn the car on an off and press a bunch of buttons! Then he says, "gotta order a new one". LOL! Guess what - this radio takes 2 WEEKS to get here. Toyota actually let me drive up there during LUNCH and IMMEDIATELY put the new unit in. (It's amazing how fast a 5 Star Dealership will work for you when one of THEIR brand new cars is screwing up)

Needless to say the HU is still working fine as of today. But I had to suffer for 2 weeks without bass because my radio had been stuck on a HARD ROCK station (nothing against hard rock but where's the bass)?!
