My uncle has an old Impala (63 i believe) that he built up while he was in tech school. He put a Chevy 427 Big Block in there, and put twin demon 4 barrel carbs on there. anyway, a friend of his came up wanting to see the car, and my uncle agreed to take him for a ride. (me and a good friend of mine jumped in the back seat cuz we love seeing this) anyway, we were going down the road, and came to a stop on a paved back road, which happened to be about a 3 mile long straightaway. my uncle pulled out a 20 dollar bill, and laid it on the dash, saying "if you can grab this bill when i gun it, you can have it."

so he guns it, and the guy is like pinned to the seat, trying to grab this bill laying up on the dash... by about 120 mph, he finally stops trying and we slow down. my uncle was like "man, aren't you even gonna try??" the friend had a big ****-eating grin on his face and said, "you can keep the money, but we GOTTA do that again.

also, saw this a couple months back... talked to a guy that had a mid 80's (astro i think) full size van that was rear-wheel drive, and said he could do wheelies in it, and we were all like BS, so he hops in the van, rolls around in the parking lot, and then gooses it and sure enough, the front wheels came about a foot off the ground, almost **** myself when i saw it

How about fun things to do with a van. An old buddy of mine(Andy) had an early 80's full size Dodge van for a beater vehicle. He started playing around with it and over a couple of months he had put an Edelbrock Perfomer intake, a Holley 750 vacuum secondary carb, and a set of Hedman headers on the 360. Man what a difference! Since a little isn't enough, he had the tranny and convertor out of his street car, so he put then in the van(torqueflite 727 and a 3500 stall convertor). He even had a B&M Mega****er bolted to the doghouse! Well one night we're out cruising and some guy in a brand new at the time '92 5.0 pulls up beside us. So Andy gooses it and the guy looks at us kinda funny. We start BS'ing with him and ask him if he wants to run 'em. He actually said yes. So we head out to Hwy 100 where the 1/4mi is marked off and we line 'em up. We gave him the jump and Andy hits it as soon as the Stang moves. By 200 feet we were already pulling him in, at the 1/8th we had him by a foot and at the 1/4 we got him by a fender. That guy about sh!t his pants. He couldn't believe that he just got waxed by a van! All summer long we terrorized IROC's and 5.0"s with that van.

I so know what you're talking about! My car is a sleeper and a beater. Looks ok, sounds kinda loud, but you wouln't expect an old '53 to burn out a new 'stang or camaro. We don't have any true place to drag, with the exception to a 1/8mile strip that's closed most of the year, so we'll just do it right there, right then. The only problem is the pigs in our town... too many... I already got one $80 ticket for draggin, don't really want another one...

i had a 1988 Chevy Nova POS hatch back. Well the suspension was shot, it had about 193,000 on the odometer. Well, i was on the way to the junk yard with it and my Girl Friend at the time was with me. On the way there was a rail road track and just beforet that a huge down hill. Well it serves as a jump the way it is, abrupt but smooth hill that raises aobut 6 feet in 5 feet distance. I got a starting run, as i hit the hill i was already doing 60 MPH, I gained another 40 MPH by the time i got to the tracks, So i was doing 100MPH. Just as i was setting up the gates started coming down, there was no way for me to stop, no parking brakes and my brakes were really bad, i got to the bottom of the hill and floored it into over drive, when i got air borne i was doing 110 MPH and jumped the car 200 feet. I lost the rear wheels and braking power when i landed. On the landing it blew out every window in the car. My girl friend passed out and i was goin nuts. I totaled out that car sooooooo bad. I couldnt see over the hood and the frame was sooooo warped. even with out the rear tires i still made it to the junk yard. The only way to get out was to climb out one of the blown windows cuz all the doors were jammed. When i got to the junk yard the guys at the place were like WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!. hehehehe, I wish i could of gotten a picture of that car in mid air and the after math. It was funny, and really fun.

Well I don't have too many of these stories but my dad and my MOM used drag race. My dad could tell stories till the cows come home and then tell them some stories. He used to have an old falcon, not sure what year but it's a small car. He took out the 6 that was in it and dropped in a boss 302 that he built up. That car would pull the front tires a foot off the ground and just hold them there through first gear. He also had a crosley. If no one knows what these look like it's sort of similar to what Mr. Bean drove and it was also in the movie the Pink Panther. Well he put a built up chevy 427 in it. The motor was so big, only half of it was under the hood. The other half was where the dash and shifter used to be. You had to sit in the cargo area and lean against the back hatch to drive. The first time he raced it it pulled the front end straight in the air and scared the $hit out of him. Needless to say what goes up must come down and he broke something. From then on he was scarred to floor it. Even without running wide open he was doing the quarter in the 9's. Keep in mind, no supercharger, no NOS, and pump gas. Then there was the time they unbolted the back doors and looked for hitch hikers. They stopped to let some guy in and as soon as he opened the door it fell off in his hand and they drove off leaving him standing there with the door. They went back later and got the door and put put in again. They went to school during a PTA conferance and while all the parents were coming out they pulled up in front and all opened their doors so they fell off and then they drove away. He also put a car in a tree. Don't remember what kind but they drove one off a cliff and it got stuck in a tree. They also drove one into a pumpkin stand. The farmer came out and shot the car with his shotgun and beat up. My brother used to make woods mobiles too. He had an old monte carlo and they cut the rear fenders and made a sun roof. They put big mud tires on the back and took it out in woods. They drove around for quite some time with it. It got stuck in some mud so he pinned the gas to the floor with a stick and told his buddy to run. It sat there and threw mud with the engine running wide open for a good 5 minutes before the blew and the car caught on fire. It was good fun. Sorry that was sort of long but I thought most of them were pretty good. And I'm sure dad has plenty more.

those last two sound just a little far fetched to me. i mean if your nova could actually get to 110 mph(not likely)why in the hell where you taking it to the junkyard? sounds like it still ran fine to me. and i don't care how big this hill was, the downhill isn't going to give that much to a car that is already "ready for the junkyard". if the car was that bad off in the first place, don't you think it was a little bit stupid to endanger you and your girlfriend's lives in that way?

far gfetched my ass, that car had nothing let in it. the driver side door and hatch lid werent even on the car, they rusted off. the passenger side doors were barely on, the hood of the car was rusted through in the center, the front bumper was hangin on the driver side. This was a total heap. i wouldnt get more then 20 bux for the car if i sold it. also, im nuts, insane, crazy, and a lunatic. the motor ran fine in the car, that was about the only "GOOD" thing of the car. Dont tell me im wrong, chevy motors are strong and can last a good while, just chevy bodies cant last as long if not taken care of. Which this car never was.

if it was an 88 nova, it was a small front drive car.......
this car is actually a toyota corolla and had very little to do with chevy except for the nameplate.
if you "flew" your car 200 feet you would probably be dead and also you would have NOT been able to move after the impact (even if you landed perfectly) at that speed with the info you provided the g-forces would have exceeded 14 g's and this would cause massive head trauma by your brain smashing into your scull causing swelling and death.
i'm not calling you a liar, but i think you may have exagerated just a bit.

200ft should be possible. Just look at some of the jumps that people do on MX bikes.
So did you go through the barriers then or had they not come down at that stage.
Also I'm suprised the typres didn't blow out.

The tires, front suspension, and the front seats gave out. The jump was more like 90-110 feet @ 95 MPH or so, Speedometer on the dash only worked till 60 MPH. hehe.

If you sneak into a junkyard in the middle of the night, you can also shoot old cars with semi-automatic weapons.

    Which is also very cool.
