first of all, the only time i've ever seen an mtx amp blow from rca's is when they were plugged in in the wrong spot

second, if you plugged em in while the amp was on, you were asking for it anyway

maybe the new mainboard they put in that amp will have more power though

hmmm...nope...they were in the right spot...input only...those are the only RCA jacks i have access to at the moment....and my entire system was off...so, like i said...i have no clue how it happened..itz horrible...now i have to run my eclipse on my a/d/s/...it can barely push the thing...and for sure it will NOT reach full excursion...80-90W is just too little...sound extremely clean, just not loud...ah well...it'll tie me over til i get the MTX back...

Heh, to anyone out there, is there any possible way that RCA's could have directional flow? if so could that fry the amp? my questions are done.

You could have knocked the internal solder connections loose. Happened to me twice on my first amp. Try to be careful when inserting the RCA's...

That's why I always remove my main fuse whenever I alter the system in any way. You never know.

Hehe, thats why i like to leave the fuse in, too see how many i can blow in one years time!! Just Kidding, that would be nuts and not very healthy to the components in the system. I never thought about that idea Camry, ive always said, If you cant figure something out with a group, then its hopeless.

well the channels aren't completely blown...thatz the thing...they play music, both of em....but the left channel emits a periodic THUMP...and the right emits a constant sine wave...so i dunno...whatever...and btw...the distro fuse was removed....i've done stupid things b4, but i've learned to take precaution at least...

hey...that hig output sine wave was doin' some good SPL...call MTX and ask em to send you my amp...hehehe...as for that THUMP...i dunno...that just blows...it's a real STRONG thump tho...i guess if you needed a real inefficient, unreliable piston, it could work...but i dunno...and too bad i can't find another amp the same size of this MTX with the same kind of output...otherwise i'd pick up a new one...but ah well...i'll deal with this one for a while i guess

I had an old Kenwood, and somehow the ground got knocked out of the amp, and the next time I burped it, the damn thing used the RCAs as a ground and I completely fried the RCA jacks.

It sounded cool, though.
