The local shop I was working at had a newbie installer fresh out of the backyard, install an amp and Rockford sub box.
He mounted everything beautifully. Wiring was perfect, fuses in place. Sounded just great and pounded excellent.
After he was done , he pulled it out of the shop and touched the brakes when he parked it. All of a sudden the rear hatch pops open.
Couldn`t figure it out. He checked everything. Anyhow he let the vehicle go with the customer and said nothing.
The next morning the customer comes back and tells the manager that every time he steps on the brake, the rear hatch pops open.
We make arrangements to bring the car back in and to an analysis. It turns out that the installer had used brackets to hold the sub box down and drilled a screw right through the harness that contains the brake light and hatch power wiring.
So everytime the brake was stepped on the power for the brake lights would be sent to not only the brakes but the hatch pop mechanism.
We all had a good laugh about it, and so did the customer.

That's a good one, and at least the customer laughed too. I hope I don't do that when I do the install on my fiance's 2000 neon(anyone know where the wires are run in them for the trunk release?).
