ok this just happened to me, i went to a store to buy dip and the owner knew i had a system actually he felt the system in the store and he wanted to here it, course me being a bama boy was like hell yeah you can hear it, and he was impressed and we got to talking about him hosting a 1x just to have fun. after we talked for a few minutes this guy pulls up and he wants to hear my system so i let him here it and this guy is like 37-40 and he says do you want to hear mine and i figured he knew his stuff and i was like hell yea. so he opens the door of his 83 ford single cab truck and lets down his seat... and i see 2 lightning audio 12(walmart) and a sony 600 watt 4 channel(walmart) and his box started out being a 10 enclosure like the ones you find at a pawn shop, but he had custom made the box into a 12 buy puting a peice of wood over the front of the box and it sounded like ass and he told me the guy that sold him the stuff shattered his windsheild in his taurus and he got rid of it cause it was dangerous...lol. and when i went to look at the connections for the amp every bit of the power wire, ground, remote was all single 18 guage wire. by this time i could barely hold back laughter and he tells me its not a bad buy because the system only costed get this 200, and then i informed him i only had about 110 in mine and then i walked off and let him set and think of the stupid decision he had made.

I saw this Nissan Pathfinder one time that was running 2 15" subs and 2 amps. What was funny about it was he had this HUGE empty box in the cargo area just sitting there. Then he used pre-fabbed 15" boxes and sat them on top of the empty box and mounted the amps to that box. What a waste of space and because of it - it put his subs above the window line and made it a "wall" technically by definition.
Of course - it did hit a 144.8 - loudest I - I mean he - had ever been.......oh heck Im busted. Yeah - it was mine a couple years ago.
Thats what a 12 in a 16.67 cube box looks like. LMAO didn't do to bad way back then. 137.8 on the mic closed up, yes it was sitting on bench behind seats in a fullsize van, but still good off 220 watts. :-P

I saw a guy who wanted trade a box in he bulit out of quarter inch plywood held together with duct tape and a mixture of flathead screws phillips screws and a few old already used L brackets that had house paint on them. Not to mention it had 2 superblue 12s in it. When we asked how much he wanted for the trade in he said 100.00 bucks lol I hated to tell him that the subs cost 24 dollars new and the box wasent even good enough for a bon fire.
Boy those were the days!

OK here is one for the books. When I first got into the industry we had a customer come in that was complaining about every time it rained his subs would go out. I tried asking a few questions about his install but he wanted me to come out to his car and give him some advice. When I walked out the door I almost fell over when I saw what he had done to his car. He was driving a mid 70's Trans-Am and had 2 15" subs mounted to the outside of the trunk lid,,,,,,yes-the outside of the truck lid, mounted inverted and firing into the truck. I politly advised him that I didn't have any experience in the situation but there was an installer at anothe local shop that specilized in this kind of work and sent him on his way. The other installer called me cursing because the customer anoyed him for about 6 months wanting to get it fixed.
