I once sold a pair of 12' subs to a customer, that was relatively new to the car audio industry. I asked him if he needed a box, he simply said no. About 2 hours later he came back to the shop and said, "these subs suck, they sound like crap!" I quickly went out to his car to see what the problem was. You know how some subs come with a sub hole template on the back of the cardboard box they come in? Well Einstein here cut out the template on the back of the cardboard box, and was using the cardboard boxes as his sub enclosures. He just looked at me as i kind of busted out laughing. I explained to him about the point of a sub box, and he was like Oh, I'm an idiot. And i was like "Yes, Yes you are!" Watch out though, he'll be runnin those cardboard boxes through the db drag lanes!!!!!!! NOT!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, well, I know a guy that drilled a hole through the magnet of a 6x9 so he could bolt it to his rear deck....

Mo Bass, I sold an old set of JL 12w0's to my neighbor about 4 years back, at the time he was 16 years old, I didnt have the box to sell to him with the subs. 45 minutes after i sold them to him he comes back over and says i ripped him off. I went back to his house and looked in the trunk, he was using 2 5 gallon buckets with a hole cut in the lid to fit the speaker. I looked at him, about to speak, and as i started to tell him i turned away and walked back home laughing so hard i was literally crying.
