Well, I got my first speeding ticket today. On rt 65 in Indiana. I was doing 82.3 mph...not 82 not 83 but 82.3 in a 65 mph zone. The cop wrote on the ticket, that I kept this speed for 1.32689 miles. I was laughing at that. Tought me not to speed though

I've had two of those dang things!! In PA over half of the fine goes to bullsh*t stuff, the fine is about 1/4 of the total cost of the ticket. gotta love that old "Testicular Cancer" commercial . j/k.

Ah.... Gotta love them state cops, eh? I got nailed for doin' 80 in a 65 in the mighty land of cheese. Oh, well. Ticket was like $150, man! That sucks. Me and my damn lead foot. I'm even worse on the bike. He he. Anyway, as far as the radar detector idea goes, I've got one too, but I got nailed with an "instant-on" gun, so they're not always effective. I knew I'd been hit as soon as the detector started flashin'... Best of luck with the court date, Iggy.

hey IGG just wondering if you have ever seen those "stealth licence plate covers" they look like a bunch of horizontal rows of triangular pyramids. They cost like 200 bucks and I know they were out about 2 years ago untill they were made illegal (in Cali). anyways when a cop tags you 80% of the signal comes fron the licence plate because it is the most reflective part of the car. This cover filters out over 70% of the signal at 75% of all possible angle between 0-180 degrees. the whole thing is it make it so that most of the time depending on the agle the signal came in at it wont get back to the cops gun with enough strenth left to get a reading so it will just show up as blank or E for error depending on the gun. Look into it man, nice investment.

PHIL, that is only effective with the LASER guns, and they aren't many of these around in most parts.

to the old standby X/K/KX radar guns that plate won't do a thing as the waves reflect of the entire vehcile.

but if you have lots of lidar near you it may be a good investment.

Yeah, those are cool. I have something similar to them on my car and they work wonders on the cops around here because they have laser radar. Except mine cost me $4 a piece. I can't figure out how to stick one on over my neon license plate frame though.

I'll tell you what Iggy... don't get caught in Indiana right now. For the next few months the IPD is having a huge crack down on "aggressive" driving. They've been writing tickets for everything from 10 over to not signalling. a friend of mine just got a ticket last week for not signalling when switching lanes, and he said it was at 1 am and no one else was even on the road... so why'd he need to use a signal anyway?!? They are also trying to pass some law to make it a $1000 fine for speeding in a construction zone... which SUCKS for me because 1/2 the trip from my campus to my g/f's house is a construction zone and i'm always going 80-85 in a 45... it's completely straight roads, no one needs to go 45 on a straight road!!! Well, just thought i'd warn ya, good luck on the last few days of your "driving probation".

Those types of tickets are pretty easy to beat. If you get a ticket like that, go to court on it. Durring the court appearance ask if you can show something to the judge. Walk to the back of the court room and talk, don't yell, just say "can ya'll here me up there in the front?" Of course they can. Explain to the judge that you were not being LOUD or ofensive, and that your situation was obviously over exsaturated by the officer. If you can here me from here (the back of the court room, prob, @ least 50 feet)then you should write me another ticket for talking to loud.

If you come across in a professional way and prove this with out doubt or ANY disrespect, you'll probably get out of it.
