this didn't happen to me (good thing too), but my friend had 3 10" vega series subs hooked up to an 800aII.. someone at *coughBESTBUYcough* must've messed up his wiring b/c he was riding around and smelled burning rubber. so he pops his trunk only to see one sub completly crispied, and another one in flames. i laughed for a good few days after seeing the subs, he didn't much mind. he got them replaced for free. (i don't let BB do any installs for him anymore, i offer to do them. =)

well those subs handle 300 watts a peice fine so 900 watts and they were all burning wtf that guy must have wired it into a 1.3 ohm load mono im suprized the amp didnt shut down and because to fry those subs like that you have to be pushing at least 1500watts unless it was a heIIa cliped singal (which it probally was)

Hmm.. sounds like your friend was clipping the amp into oblivion... not a wiring problem as i see it
yes, the amp was running at a less than reccomended load, but if the subs caught on fire, its not the amps fault

It is the amps fault because the amp sent the major cliped singal to the subs causing then to fry.
