Install an 530t install on an 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass the instruction states: cut down wire at switch and connect this wire to motor side of down wire\cut up wire at switch and connect this wire to motor side of down wire

But there isn't really a down or up wire as they are the same, as you just reverse polarity for up and down operation, so my question is how do I make my connection?

your "up" wire and "down" wire would be the wire showing 12V when you press the up or down switch. It explains this in the 530T manual. I would probably reccomend getting a shop to install this peice though.
