Used to be an installer, about 10 yrs ago, but have been out of the biz long enough that I don't know too much about current alarm systems.

Looking for a good alarm/rs....don't need 2-way paging.

Looking at prestige and various DEI brands, that's about all the local shops seem to carry. But I don't know which ones are good, which ones have problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

we've had AWESOME luck with prestige, like the aps787.
If you want better range and features, go with CompuStarPro...but the antenna's and remotes are more likely to have an issue.
