When I had my new radio installed I found out that I had a RKE Receiver behind the passenger kick panel. I just bought the truck, so I didn't know about it and neither did the previous owner. It was working because when I started the truck the doors would lock...when I turned the truck off, they would unlock. All of that was reset when the new radio went in somehow. The unit is an Omega REC-11 and the replacment key fobs were 30 bucks a piece so I ended up buying the whole package on Ebay, it was a new REC-11+. Omega says the wiring is the same and the unit is the same. Here is my issue...I cannot for the LIFE of me enter programming on either unit. To begin with I could on the older unit partially. I would turn the key to ON, press the valet switch five times and the unit would beep a few times....then press the valet once and nothing happens. So I reset the system and got the proper response beeps saying it reset. Now when I turn the ignition to ON and press the valet switch five times, nothing happens, no beeps, nothing. It will enter valet mode however if the ignition is ON and I press the valet for 2 seconds. The plus system..when I have the ignition on and enter valet...the key fobs will work...however, when I turn the ignition off they stop working..also the led goes off when the key is out....anyone have experience with Omega stuff?

It sounds like your constant and ign. are backwards. Red is constant and yellow is ign. The rec 11 is a very cheap unit, it does not even do ign controlled lock and unlock. It is just plain. What kind of vehichle is it and does it have a factory keyless? I ican be more helpful with more info.

First, this all happened on a Circuit City new stereo install and the guy came out and was like...you have some extra wires in there...do you have a CD changer to which my answer was NOPE...he said he put them back the way they were attached. Before that my locks would lock when I started the vehicle and unlock when the vehicle was turned off. Which was aggravating anyway because when I pull my boat..it would be EASY to lock myself out.

This is for a 97 4dr 4x4 GMC Jimmy without factory keyless entry.

One thing you said with the wires being reversed may be so...this is what happens...say I start the truck and press and hold the valet switch for two seconds...the led stays on steady. Now...I turn the vehicle off and it goes out...should that happen? The other issue is I cannot enter programming at any time, which is weird. Turn the ignition on, velet switch five times...no audible.

THANK YOU for your help.

No prob. If you can, just change those two wires, no big deal. only thing, since you have a consatant hot, disconnect the battery. then swap the wires. the REC11 is a small unit that is not fused, just being on the safe side. RED is IGN and YELLOW is constant 12+. Hope that helps. It will save you money on gas anyway. But, keep in mind, the rec11 is JUST a keyless entry module, nothing more. CCI, (Cicuit City) shold back up their installs, but I guess that you see that is the reason people use local shops. It keeps money in the community as well as customer support. Just like me. Support!! Just keep that in mind next time you are looking at doing something with your truck!

Oh yea, the REC 11... Red(12V) and black is ground, there is no ign on that piece. it uses a .5 ma (-) out for door locks, to program, use a small screw driver or a precision driver, push the gold button on the module, then release, it will chirp then press the lock and the the unlock( not at the same time). do the same with the other remote using the same buttons, when done, presss the BUTTON again, test it, then done.Just remember, the REC11 does not use an ign. its a POS keyless entry. 4 wire install on that.

Remember, security power connections are opposite of traditional audio connections. Red is constant +12v and Yellow is IGN +12v.

Oh, and the REC-11(+) is our deluxe keyless. It has light flash, dome light supervision, driver priority unlock, IGNITION CONTROLLED DOORLOCKS, auto relocking, audible output, starter interrupt, trunk release out, and 3rd channel out.

The doorlock outputs are 500Ma (-) outputs. Hope this helps.

Sorry to reply to this one, again. The rec 11 is just an excuse to get someone in the shop. Yes I sell it, but in no means push it. My "personal advice" if you have probs with the REC 11, most of your primary connections are done, simply upgrade to a better product. Let it be the "rec 11+" or just look around, I was omega but DEI had more streamed lined product. From basic to extreme, if you bought the 99 dollor keyless and later wanted security or reomte start, the harness(es) are the same.
