I was told the 5900 and 7900 got recalled. I was looking to buy one of the two.

I started leaning towards the Compustar, but I cannot seem to find anyone in Florida that will install it at a reasonable price. Are they that much more difficult to install, or just the installers are unfimiliar with them. Should I wait on Viper?

I heard about a recall, also but I don't know which models.

Where I install at, we have a higher installation rate on units that were purchased elsewhere, especially the "el cheapo" brands. Compustar is a good brand and has about the same degree of difficulty to install as DEI brands, just different wire colors and a couple different outputs/inputs. A lot of shops won't even touch a brand they don't carry. Hope this helps.

I sold about 30 of the Viper 7900's. Only had one return. THe remote screen was defective. They have the Python version out now thats updated with no bugs so far.

What do you consider a resonable price on installation?

Well, i know i can get the 5900 online for about $230 but i AM getting it at a local audio shop for $500 free install so i guess $250 + tax.

I was told to install this with the digital tilt, proximity, glass sensor, 2 battery backup external sirens and 3 internal peizo sirens will be about a 10hr job.

There was no recall on those. If you are deciding to choose between them it depends on if you want up to a mile of range with a fast response time with a lcd screen or if you want a slower response time with less range but a cool color screen.

You are only as good as your worst install.
