I'm working on another monte carlo but this one I wanted to have shaved door handles I noticed that most of the shaved handle kit come with a brain and a transmitter to control the door poppers and other functions but I was wondering couldn't I do all that with just the alarm and the AUX channels?

well i wouldnt just leave the wires dead.... you should disconect the wires and rods that go to the lock assembly and then zip tie the lock arm so it CANNT lock again!

cause lets say ya close the door with the windows up and keys in the car... YOUR SCREWED..... or if the battery goes dead and you have to rely on the emergency handle or button... if the lock lokcs your screwed... rust me i found that out after i shaved both my handles off the truck. LMFAO

shaving handles can be a cool for show BUT WHEN YA GOT PROBLEMS.... YOU REALY GOT PROBLEMS!!!!
and if you can IF ITS YOUR CAR... check on ebay for a extra car window.. which ever is easiest to replace for you. knowing monte carlos its just the passenger front window.
buy a extra window JUST INCASE thiers no other way into the car..... you have a extra window you can quickly sweep out the glass and put the new window in..... [Wink] just think ahead alittle that way if ya have a problem you got the solution already ready! [Wink]

and with my alarm system on my truck its kinda a PITA at times.. cause you disarm the system then pop hold the trunk pop button to pop the drivers door.. kinda suchs sometimes. but can be worked around..

here is an bit of safety outside of broken glass, use some 1/16" steel cable (the type used to hang picture frames) connect one end to the latch assembly(since you shaved the handles you should have an idea of where to attach)run the cable along the inner fender to the outside just where only you will know so this way if you ever have a problem (and you will) it will be alot less of a headache, i've done this dozens of times and refuse to do a shaved kit without doing so.and try to keep the cable as kink free as possible.

No need to do all that. Simply wire in a 9V battey plug in a hidden location like the gas door. Connect the + and - to the drivers solenoid. If the car battery fails and you are locked out. Plug in a 9V and pop the door opens.

hey, its his car, just saying a mechanical link is always better, just haven't seen to many 35lb+ solenoids operate with light current especially in a vehicle over 15 yrs old learned this method from a few veteran hot rod builders and i figure if a guy just spent 30g's on a car and leaves his lights on one night he wouuldn't be a happy camper if he has to break some glass or doesn't happen to have a 9v in his wallet. i have a few sets of the autoloc manual release things, its basically like a brake cable on a bicycle, and you attach it to the solenoid and hide it under the car somewhere, and pull it and itll release the solenoid.
