I have an 07 Ram 2500 and cant seem to find the (+) starter wire. The vehicle uses the multiplexed resistance (-) second starter/combined accessory. There is no directechs info for the 07 - on the 06 info it shows a green/violet wire for starter on the 07 this wire doesnt exist and ive tested all the wires in the ign harness and there doesnt seem to be a (+) starter. Does the 07 just not have a (+) starter and maybe only need to hoook up the resistance (-) starter?

are u on directechs?? here are a few post that I copied
In regaurds to the 07 dodge ram, I thought there was no positive starter wire on the vehicle, atleast that was what I was told a couple of weeks ago?
they dont have a postive starter wire, but some of the modules tap on the postivie starter wire of the remote unit to know when to send the 180ohms and when to send the 610
I haven't seen an '07 Ram yet. But you say it has no positive starter wire?
This is like the Caliber, Compass, etcetera?
In that case, here's what we've been doing. I'll say that this is with another brand of product; might require a little fine-tuning.
Anyway:
Connect constant and ignition, and accessory if the car has it.
Take the remote starter's low-current "Pulse During Crank" wire, and connect it directly to the car's purple/brown resistance wire. No resistor, relay, or diode at all........the remote starter's output should be just the right "strength" to simulate the 180 ohms.
We haven't found any need for using another resistor for second-accessory; the climate controls and radio come on anyway
As much as I hate to say it, the problem ended up being self inflicted. I tapped into the purple/brown at the bottom of the plastic sheathing instead of where it comes out of the ignition switch. Once I changed that it worked fine.
While I was at it, I ran the ground straight to the battery as I already had the power/tach/hood wires ran out there.
Chris,
Thanks for the heads-up on using the "other" brand. I happened to have one of those here and put it in as you said and it worked fine.
Also, I just tried emailing you through the forum and received a delivery failure notification.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

Thanks for the replies guys, got it working fine. No need for the accessory, the single ignition wire turns on everything in the vehicle with no problems (check engine/abs light) Starter is just a neg trigger through 180ohm resistance off the ground ref wire. The ground ref wire is black with a white/greyish stripe (the only wire like this in the ign harness)

i tried that and it would not program at all. i tried and tried and tried. i have used a ton of them and i can only remember having this problem 1 other time and it was the vehicle. the dealer couldnt even code a key to it. so maybe its the same problem.

If the dealer goes in and programs another key into the system it automacticly locks the system so only a dealer can get in.
Next time, try this this is how I do it.... hook up everything else for the remote start. keep your module out and easy to get to. Take a jumper wire, tie it to your ignition wire. do the key on untill light out, 2nd key on till you hear the chimes. pull out take pkuch2 and put up to cylinder, put your other end of jumper to the 12volts. keep it there for a good 20-30 seconds. if it hasnt chimed yet try the sequence 2 more times and try flipping it so the lable is facing the cylinder. I have had a few where they didnt take on the screw side but did on the label side. Also some will take 2-3 tried. i noticed a few took alittle longer to program (seconds before chime) Some dodges need to see the accessory wire powered also. I dont think that truck did.
REMEMBER, once programmed they will NOT program to anything else. So if someone programmed it to a car and put it back you will not get it to program into another vehicle. Dodge is the only company to do that.

For the one i did i took apart the key fob and took out the pcb containting the transponder and put it in a 556u. So they still have the key as an extra to open to the doors etc but it wont start the car

actually you can program to the 07's but you have to slow down a bit. On the 06 and older trucks you had to be quick with switching the keys in the ignition, with the 07's if you do it quick it won't work. Gotta be slow!
check out the owners manual for more info, its in there.

well i just got the ram back to the shop today to put a key in it and i have no problem programing a new key to it. got it first try. works great. also i use an uncut key so when i got to the part where you would normally jump power to the ignition i simply put the key in the ignition and remote started it so for the record it worked doing it that way.
