If your ride has non-powered door locks:
buy power door locks for it and get rid of the factory locks BUT mount the power door lock buttons in the center console, preferably hidden (like in my Talon there is a little 4" deep pocket for putting various things in that has a "lid" over top of it....put the buttons in here) and that way when they break in through the windows they still can't open the doors (unless the doors automatically unlock when you open them from inside). It'd be awefully hard for a thief to find your hidden door lock buttons considering he'd have to stretch half his body into the car just to reach them!

And if your vehicle comes with factory power locks, then simply move them into the center console.

Thoughts?

you're assuming that they are going to break the glass instead of goin thru the door locks on the door....

Our car alarms are our pit bulls (110 and 123lbs we also run a kennel together) sit in the bed of our trucks in a pet carrier with no gate on it. If someone touches the truck, the dog will growl, if the door is opened and its not me, the dog comes out of the carrier and defends my property. The dog is on a 10ft. cable so it can't get away and is on a "leash" so it's legal and the weather is good enough for the dog to be comfortable in the box. Plus they are fine in the carrier and have yet to come out of the box when someone gets near my truck. Usually the growl/bark is enough notification for the person to step away from my truck and that's the end of it.

Bang! Oops, your car alarm is bleeding all over your vehicle... I think I'll stick with mechanical and electrical alarms, as I don't get too attached to them.

lol I just now saw this reply....
And ya, you make a good point. But how could they unlock the door without the keys? Unless it's a really old/simple car it shouldn't be that doable, or so I thought...

Question, I was thinking of ways to fit my ICE. Now, I have been reading a lot about the TORX screws. For those who have tried them out, is it possible to uncrew them using a normal screwdriver? Thanks

mine will never be taken well i hope not.kinda dont want to give away to much.but in the back of my truck quad cab dokota.there are 4 bolts that holds each seat down.there very huge bolts(wont say the size).well the amps need to be bolted to the back of th box then u have to put thr 4-6 bolts that secures the box to the truck.then install the subs all bolts are diffrent sizes and already using allen head and hex heads.this is something i thought about for awhile .with competing and switching boxes from dd to db it sucks but better than not having anything

using another battery for the alarm is the best way to go.once they disable the first the alarm will still go i would just run

and i have mini cameras the size of a pennie.it wireless and runs of a small battery.it works up to 200ft wireless.have the box hooked up to ur vcr to record or just watch.put one were the car parks and one inside the car to get the face.they can take the cam but u have the tape.eather way its so small they wont find it no one can find mine

if i park in the garage i have to put a toolbox in front of the service door to fit.... the thing weighs about 1500lbs. the service door then opens about .5 inches till it hits the toolbox. then you are trying to push the toolbox sideways on its wheels...might as well have no wheels cause it wouldnt push easier.

Then enve if you moved it the 2 inches that it can it will hit 2 tables each at at least a hundred pounds(plus however much mdf i have at the time) then a 250lb 4 drawer file cabinet. Followed by a table saw(100ish lbs).

Now if you could move all that good job, now you better hope i didnt hear you or i will be on my balcony with a 12 gauge shotgun [Smile]

At my old house i just had 3 2x4's nailing the service door shut.....one day there was a big dent in the door cause someone spent some time trying to get in....hacked quite a bit away....must have figured it out no one ever touched it again lol.

--------------------
Been there, done that, didnt like it, so I BROKE IT!

If you can't fix it. FORCE IT
And if it breaks, it was broke anyway.

hide a extra cell phone with gps in the car (hardware the stuff) so you let the guy get to where is going then surprise i own guns and so do my friends. i still do the car alarm and a few other neat things, but if someone wnats you car bad enough they'll get your car plain and simple.

Tow trucks can simply tow ur car away unless your car sits very low.

A good thief(say an ex-alarm installer) can probably disarm any alarm within a small enough time window that most people wouldn't notice. A chop shop can dismember your ride in less than an hour and disable any GPS device then throw it into a pond or that sort.

You never know, there could be thiefs looking for "advice" on the internet, on this very forum.

Truth is there are so many back ups & ways to go overkill on a security alarm install that someway the punk(s) will be caught. [Wink]

I got ~80-90 cd's stolen a few months back, in front of my place overnight. Then about a week ago, i'm out fishing, my car is parked close to the main road where everone in their home, or cars could see if it was being tampered with. When i come back to the car my excelon head unit was gone.

Cop did what they always do, nothing. Sooner or later i'll find them, and well, it'll be the last time they ever touch my vehicle again, and hopefully not anyone elses either.

Getting an alarm now, couple sirens in the engine bay, a few more under the truck, and as many as i can hide away inside the truck, plus an extra car horn inside and maybe one of each inside my box. Brain will be well hiden, away from the dash all together and bolted into place with stock panels screwed over it. Multiple power/ground for the brain and each siren, as well as false wires for each.

Looking to find some small cheap camera's that i can hide inside the truck at various points so if anyone gets in or around it, i'll have video all around. That way even if the cops around here are retarded, i can still go to the people myself, along with 20 or so friends and leave them spending the rest of their lives talkin' like dee-dee-dee.lol

Plus a neon light transformer under each door handle so the truck body is not affected, (so a child won't be accidently shocked) hot only when the alarm goes off. No way an innocent person will get shocked, cus if you lift my door handle, your not innocent. Topped off with a warning sticker *WARNING-THIS VEHICLE IS SHOCKING!!* made to look more like novilty(sp?) sticker.
