A list of things that should prevent theft. Most are mentioned above bu some surprisingly weren't!
Physical
Window tinting with a shock resistant film De locking the bodywork Different sets of locking bolts for the alloy wheels Secure all audio equipment with non-standard screws (security screws) And use different sets for added security. A lowered car is more difficult to tow away. (Air Bags would be ideal) Use wheel clamp Remove the steering wheel (Snap-Off) Standard look No stickers Replace bonnet release handle with a switch at a different location Ignition cut off switch Fuel cut of switches Pedal clamp Wheel clamp Gear knob clamp Brake lock (pressure and pedal)
Attitude
Parking with wheels towards the pavement. (makes towing difficult) Don’t put your registration plate up on the internet or at shows (use a custom one instead). Park in well lit spots at a busy spot Don’t play loud music in your area or before you park up. Don’t leave any inviting bites on display Leave glove box open to prove it’s empty Always take your head unit with you Don’t give your actual address to an installer Park with the boot facing a wall for difficult entry
Electronic
Bright blinking red led Alarm with pager. Anti car jack system. Installing the alarm at a less obvious place and securing it with “security” screws. Add extra wires to the alarm unit to confuse the criminal, best to have wires in yellow and orange (just like airbags). Use black wires for a standard look. Easy access battery for when remote unlocking fails Headlight strobes Separate battery for alarm. Try different horns for maximum attention
Interior
Removing the doorknob. Extra horns for the interior Smoke generator for the interior Strobes for the interior De handling the interior

Ive thought of this idea for a long time but its honestly too expensive to act on. There are these devices called electronics deadbolts which can be triggered by a positive or negative signal. If one was to install these into all of the doors of the vehicle they could than be tied into the security system in a manner so that they would lock when the doors would lock but they would be completely independent of the vehicles door lock system. You can by them in the fail-lock variety so that if power is cut from them they default into the locked mode. This would make it a ton of fun for thieves, only being able to use the windows for acces, not able to get the doors open

i say wire up your car alarm with an AC volt tranformer from the undercar neon light kits so if someone touches your car they get the crap shocked out of them! lol, its illegal though. nah thats a bad idea, that can stop a pacemaker and id feel horrible if it killed an elderly person who bumped into my Jeep

I actually do this (I know I'm going to P*ss someone off. so I'm gonna apologize ahead of time), my friend trains defense dogs for police etc. and has trained his own dog to where it won't even use the bathroom unless he tells it to. Our car alarms are our pit bulls (110 and 123lbs we also run a kennel together) sit in the bed of our trucks in a pet carrier with no gate on it. If someone touches the truck, the dog will growl, if the door is opened and its not me, the dog comes out of the carrier and defends my property. The dog is on a 10ft. cable so it can't get away and is on a "leash" so it's legal and the weather is good enough for the dog to be comfortable in the box. Plus they are fine in the carrier and have yet to come out of the box when someone gets near my truck. Usually the growl/bark is enough notification for the person to step away from my truck and that's the end of it.

wow, 4 years later and it's still going lol.
I had an idea while I was reading this thread that may or may not be a good one... If your ride has non-powered door locks: buy power door locks for it and get rid of the factory locks BUT mount the power door lock buttons in the center console, preferably hidden (like in my Talon there is a little 4" deep pocket for putting various things in that has a "lid" over top of it....put the buttons in here) and that way when they break in through the windows they still can't open the doors (unless the doors automatically unlock when you open them from inside). It'd be awefully hard for a thief to find your hidden door lock buttons considering he'd have to stretch half his body into the car just to reach them!
And if your vehicle comes with factory power locks, then simply move them into the center console.

I found it stuck back in 'General Audio' in my 'old post read' a long time back and had it sent down here. At my request, it was 'stickied'.

I think putting your name on your sub in orange spray paint is my favorite. I have a blank sub so i think i will dip my hand in white paint and put my hand print on it then spray somethign on top you know how we do.... also my trunk can only be opened with my one key even from the inside because i have a lock for the buttons. I wonder how hard it is to get into a trunk? I think if there was a chain hooking the floor to the trunk lid with just enough room to slip a key in and unlock it that would be a good bet along with the amp racks being bolted down with 2 big chains holding them in.
