We had one fired up in my installer's shop and it apparently clocks in over 130dB... Are there other sirens 12VDC of the same size and same caliber?
I thought I'd take the Revenger DEI and slap it with the piezos under the dash by the head, etc. and run the Alpine under the fender well. I know this seems like a silly post but MY GAWD wire one of these damn things up... they are LOUD.
Before I lay down 100 clams for one of these things, are there others that would be better suited to:
1) call exacting attention to my car under a response condition (very distinctive recoil)
2) put out the same spl and remain a compact unit
I am telling you -- one of these things inside the cabin and nobody without hearing protection will last more than a few seconds...

i read something about a siren hitting 130db. i think is was in that issue of CSR. that was a good idea to have pro installers try and attack a protected car. they should have thrown an auto taser in there and have them try and defeat that. www.airtaser.com i'm still tryin to find something to produce a sound like ECTO-1 (ghostbusters)
To tell you the truth, an air-horn siren is just as loud (or louder) and a lot cheaper... Not as nifty, but just as good. Look in (GASP!) JC Whitney catalogs or MCM Electronics (or www.mouser.com) and see if you can find any for cheaper... Should be interfaceable with most decent alarms, I should think?

I've got the new Alpine 8063 alarm, and yes, that insanely loud siren is standard, I believe. I had a couple extra features added like alternating horn and siren and alternating parking and hazard lights. But as far as I know, it's standard. With the dual stage radar and proximity sensor, it just kicks a-- (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say that here It's so user friendly too. Much easier than the cliffords and stuff like that. Basically everything is programmable through the remote and display. Well, there ya go

I think the 8063 would be about 300 more than the 8028. Yeah, cause I think I got mine for something like 450 or around that....I also added though the dual stage radar sensor and proximity sensor with a couple other things. With install it was pretty pricey for me, but I think it's worth it. Oh well though, too late now huh. Later.
P.S. Yeah, I'm from LA too.

Actually, I had it installed up in Washington state, not in LA. But, yes, the ones that installed it for me in WA did an incredible job and I would definetly recommend them, but obviously they are 1000 miles away, so that doens't help much. I'm not too familiar with car audio places around here, so I can't really suggest on a place to go.
