Does anyone know where I can get security screws for mounting components? I've seen the bits for these but not the screws. Anything other than ordinary hex, torx or phillips head.

Thanks

Look in your phone book for a company that specializes in fasteners. We have several in my town. If you live in a small town, you may have to travel.

I can get the kind with the 2 small holes in them - the kind you see in restrooms.

Their not cheap...

I suggest you look locally..

Thanks for the info guys. I really want to do as much as possible to keep what is mine mine. I'm really suprised I haven't been able to find more than I have on this subject. Dukk, the screw heads with the two holes - are they called dove tails? I can't remember. Anyway, I've been looking at home improvement stores & in my friends' woodworking catalogs (they mostly have the square head screws). Hopefully I'll be able to find something unique.

Again, thanks!

My thinking of 'dovetails' are a round head with two 1/4s removed, leaving a dovetail look. These are an oval head screw (viewed from the side) with 2 holes drilled in it. The bit looks like a specialized fork.

Look in the Yellow pages under Fasteners. There are at least 2 wholesale fastener companies I personally pass everyday on the way to work...

Just a quick suggestion:

You can always fill the heads of any screws with solder. It sticks in there with a vengence and will piss off almost any thief enough to look elsewhere. Just heat up the solder a little with your iron to remove it.

It works. In my area, the custom fastener king is known as "Brofasco" -- I don't know if they're big players in the US or not.

See ya.

Andrew.
