If its got the 2.4 motor, its white. If its the 2.2 motor, its white or orange, both at the PCM.

The Tach wire is can be difficult to find in those cars. The place where I usually get it is in the loom that runs low on the driver's side of the engine compartment towards the front by the radiator. As I recall, there are several white wires in there, so make sure you use a DMM and set it to volts AC to test it. This is going to be about the easiest place to grab the wire. Hope this helps.

tach is white or purple white at the coil pack. on the 2.2 it's on the drivers side of the engine, 2.4 is in the connector of the top of the engine going into the valve cover.

Great...I spent 2 hours trying to locate the tach wire on the exact same vehicle last night, THEN I come in here and see this thread lol. DEI's Techsoft had it listed as purple/white, which it definitely was not. White, as said here.
That'll teach me to come into termpro more often.
