JD, i think i read in one of your posts you work with DEI. well, im having trouble with my remote for my lift and doors (not a DEI) and would like to replace it with an aftermarket remote/alarm/starter. does DEI have something with 4 extra outputs?

The lower end DEI units don't have very many additional outputs, but the good thing is DEI offers add-on channel expanders, which will give you PLENTY of additional outputs.

awsome, i still have questions though. can if i hold the button down on the remote, will it continue to send a signal to whatever i have it hooked too? for safety reasons, i have to hold the button down while the doors are opening/closing etc instead of pushing the button and then letting go (which i would prefer, but cant figure out how to do without completely redoing everything. also, how strong is the signal the remote gives off? the motor that opens the gull wing is BIG and it will interferee with my remote now (i guess some type of wave its giving off or something, im not an electrical engineer, so... ), will that be a problem? finally, how much will an alarm cost with say keyless entry/lock, remote start, 5 extra outputs (4 for the lift and 1 for my rear door locks), shock sensors, two motion sensors (long vehicle) and maybe two sirens, 1 for the inside, 1 for the outside? does that sound like a decent alarm? i really dont know much about them. oh haha, one more question, sorry, does DEI make a LCD remote? thanks

Man, thats alot of questions...lol

First off, you can choose

pulse (just a - pulse when the expander gets signal)
validity (will continue - ouput until you release the button)
latched (will start the - out when you press the button, and stop the signal when you press it again.)

these units give off low current (500 MA i believe) - outputs, enought to run relays to switch higher currents.

As far as price, it depends on the dealer.

The common prices for that setup around here would be

399 alarm and remote start
79 channel expander
29 additional shock sensor
29 additional siren

so around 500-600 dollars installed for that setup should be reasonable.

sweet, i appreciate it. a question though haha. i think you misunderstood my second question. i already have the relays and stuff on mine, but, when the back door starts to open, it sometimes interferes with the remote. i dont know why, im guessing something to do with radio waves or something... sometimes when my wheelchair is inside near an old tv, it will make it snowy if the signal isnt strong... kinda the same thing i guess...

btw, when you gave the prices, which alarm is that? i was looking at the avantgaurd, whats the difference between it and the solaris? thanks

The Viper ESPs operate at a higher freq. that most alarms, probably including yor old one, so the interferance SHOULD go away, but who knows..

The prices I gave was for a Viper 550esp and its related accessories.
