well, i just got a new car, and put my subs and amp in there, and it's loud as hell with the seat down, but with the seat up you can barely tell they're on... the back of the entire back seat is covered in sheet metal, so i was wondering how i could get better spl out of this... i thought about building a ported box and have the port firing up throught the 6x9 hole, or just taking the 6x9's out... i don't want to cut anyholes in thes sheet metal, so... thanks for any info

I've only heard bad things about firing ports into a separate compartment from the subs. That may ont be a good idea. Your best be is to just take your 6x9's out. Itook mine out and it does sound a little louder.

If you aren't willing to cut metal, theres not much to do. You can take the 6x9s out for a moderate difference. You could build a bandpass box and fire the ports up through the hole and it would be silly-loud...

are the woofers directed at the back of the seat? If they are turn the box around and fire them toward the trunk lid that will help

give me the Qts. of your subs of choice and we'll find out if they are suitable for 5th order band pass enclosure...which would be optimum for that application of firing the ports up through the existing 6x9 holes. Best Regards, Steve
