Well I got my install yesterday, and quite frankly it suxxxxxxx! They couldnt get the black peice on to cover up the cage, so part of that is showing. And they messed up my cd player. At first when I put a cd in, it just spun it around, and then I tried putting a different cd in, and it ate the cd! Im going up there today to see what the hell is up...but for those of you who have done head unit installs on a 2000 cavalier, please help me out here.

I would be pissed, it pisses me off when i hear about this kinda stuff, you pay them to install your stuff and then they dont, or at least not as they should. Thats why i install all my own stuff, so if i do screw something up or brake something i know that it was my fault

Sorry to hear Iggy... I am in the same boat as NJ... I do my own work, that way I know what is REALLY being done, and HOW it is being done. Besides, my system may not be the best looking install, but I think I put up decent numbers for a DIY ! Save the money and DIY !! Besides, it makes the win much more enjoyable...
I hope you get things straightened out Iggy !! If not.. I think all of us on the forum need to make a trip to Illinois !!

Well I went back....got myself a 400 dollar Kenwood Excelon 715x. I will return this when I get my other radio back from service, they installed it for free....but the jerk off manager siad it would be an additional 80 dollars to make it fight with the trimming on it. He would have to charge me custom labor. Hey Sweetsounds, what are ur opinions on this?

Ok, I had my alarm installed at Circuit City. It took them like 2 hours extra to install it. But, it worked fine so I was understanding and patient. Then, as the weeks and months went by and I did more and more to my car I started to notice things. First, some original trim was put back on loose and sloppy. Wires were too long and hanging down a few places out of sight. The antenna could have been tucked away better. Then I took apart some molding under my hood a few months later and the alarm siren wasn't even screwed down completly, just the screws easy to reach not the ones that would take another 5 minutes. Then a month later redoing my trunk, I noticed the pin switch that I paid an extra $20 for (just for the switch, not the labor) was missing. They just ran a wire to my trunk light and taped it on. And screwed me on the switch I bought. I will never go back to Circuit City. It is a 100% un-professional install. You think if I complain now, 5 months later, I could get some free stuff? Always a chance hey?

I am a CSA at Circuit city. After 5 months you can try to have them fix what they did wrong but you will get nothing for free. You can bitch all you want.
Every circuit city is diffrent so lets not give them all a bad name because you found one with some crack heads. I have had work done at many places and you best bet it to do it your self. My store does good work and we dont have problems like this.

Jason, I was not implying that they are all bad. All of my previous installs have been by Circuit City, and they have done a wonderful job. I am just asking around to what I can do to fix my problem.

Lol.nothing for free? Even when its their fault...hmm dont know about that one. Cae in point.....
#1 I would complain to the install department.
#2 If not willing or able to help complain to a store manager.
#3 If nothing there complain on up the ladder and file a complaint with the BBB.
I has this exact thing happen to me. I was having a set of 61/2 installed in a car wayback when. Well they put them in and all sounded pretty good. Then I get home and look at what was done and see a hole in one of the surrounds. I go back and complain to the install dept...They were unable to help. I talked to the store manager and he was more then willing to help..so luckly the issue stopped there. Speaker was replaced and all was ok...
So if they did make the mistake in the install I would complain up the ladder....

two words...PAY RATE....installers at Circuit City don't make much...usually get the losers that cannot find that out until they have worked there for a month or more..then they leave..that is the problem. good help is expensive..and high wages/commission rates. go talk with the installers there..ask if they won't throw bullcrap numbers of what is average wage there. that will let you know the reason behind everyone's disgruntled outlook toward CC. Best Regards, Steve

Hey, I live in Lockport, bout 12 miles from CC. I used to work at the Jewel across the street. Small world. Anywho, I bought an Alpine from them and installed in my self, well in my old car. Then I got a new one, My 2000 S10 (www.y2g_xtreme.homestead.com/home.html) I put it in myself. I have read horror stories from CC's all over the country. Thats not why I did it myself. Well, enough rambling. Hope all works out.

Well, folks, thank you for all the advice. I am back in business and flush mounted with the trimming on A guy at the circuit city in Country Side fixed it for me for free. He was outraged of the sheoty job the other store did, and did not charge me a thing. He did not have to cut into my vent shaft, just cut a bracket of plastic off Thank You again everyone Now if i can just get my qbasic final to work
