I just built a box big enought o fit betweek the two collums in my truck and its 41.75" wide...I was thinking of putting (3) 12's in there if I could fit them but 12"X3=36 and that leaves 5.75" left....so is like 1" to 1.5"'s enough space between subs or will that makethe face too weak and break??
also if I put (3) subs in I might not have enough room for spacers....would one big chamber for 3 subs be bad? if so how bad? if anything I'll try to fit spacers in there if its very important and going to sound way better...
thanks

One chaimber is better, just make them all the same channel. No space is required between subs, just use a brace.
I have two DD9515 15" subs (15.5" basket). They are mounted on exactly 31", that leaves 0.00" room between them (I had to cut a bit of the rubber ring to make them 15.5", it's not mechanical or even visible). The cut out holes are 14" so the piece of wood between them is 1.5". A brace behind thand makes it rock hard.
Leave like 1/8" between subs for error. If I did it again I would have.

I disagree that one chamber is better, however it will work just fine. Most speaker companies will tell you that each sub needs it's own enclosure. You don't need any space between them, just a good sealed/braced enclosure.

definately build it with seperate chambers. each sub will be slightly different tha the other. this way the other subs dont have to make up for the weaker ones. another good reason to buld seperate chambers, is if 1 sub goes the other 2 are not suddenly working overtime trying to make up for the third one in a box that is suddenly way to large for 2 subs, greatly reducing there life span as well. a lot of people do not notice 1 sub going, because in a common chamber the sub will look like it is working because of the air pressure.

According to sound stream more than two subs separate enclosure should be used. However if a separator between the two subs is used the effect between them should be minimized. I am going to separate mine with a 4" brace.
